Thanks for all the recommendation folks, but what I didn't like about Cayenne was its weight, which is hidden well with the power and suspension but its still there. So, please don't recommend even heavier cars

Essentially I am looking for a nimbler car with sporty handling and just as much room as Cayenne. So far, I think E-wagon, and maybe Allroad are the best options available. Allroad maybe a bit too slow for my liking unless chipped.

The GLA 4Matic (not the 2wd) is more fun to drive than the GLC.

I rented a GLA, and it was very fun to drive, the engine was great for being a 4cyl... however, it's simply too small for me. Our current Tiguan has way more room than GLA. So, do need something larger.

I'm normally a BMW guy but if I wanted a fast wagon I'd go after the 4matic E63 AMG Wagon. 577 hp wagon with awd!

Have you had a look at the Jaguar F-Pace? or the Volvo XC90? I've heard both are pretty fantastic.

F-Pace starts at 3880 lbs- about the same as a 5er or EClass.

I saw you mentioned that you needed more space than the Macan, which sits between a Tiguan and Cayenne in terms of size. I have one, and it's just perfect for my needs. It was the only 'SUV' which I drove which actually felt nimble.

The allroad doesn't offer much more leg room inside, however it's load space is longer than the Macan (perhaps that is where you're looking for more room?).

The market is a little flooded with SUV's vs. wagons here in the US, and they all drive like SUV's, apart from the Macan and to a lesser extent the Cayenne. It seems like some sort of used Euro-wagon is what you're looking for.

The previous generation A6 wagons are nice cars too, and have come down a bit in price.

.... can't keep them on the lot because they keep moving them around back to the Service Dept.

You're right about the new Discovery though. Had one as a rental in Portland and if yiu put me in that car with no badging and asked me what I was driving, I'd have said a Ford Explorer. Completely unimpressed - buzzy, poor interior materials, crappy ride, etc

Right now, looks like Merc E400 Wagon hits all the boxes! Probably the best Station Wagon for sale currently on the market. 0-60 in 5.2 is fast enough for me.

If you think the macan is small not sure how a wagon will give more room? Maybe storage space in back but not in the seating area.

I personally think the Cayenne is bad **** for what it is. Tows ski boats and car haulers super well, better than Denali, Tahoe and etc., yet drives and handles great whereas the others felt like a truck.

Station wagons and Macans are for housewife's, but perhaps check out the Stelvio in that range. I personally like the Levante a whole lot and wish my wife would trade her Macan S in for one.

My 2017 M3 has more rear leg room and feel much more roomy in the back seat than my wife's Macan S. The Macan S rear seat area is super small.

Wife drives a BMW 335d, so, when we needed to replace the VW Jetta TDI, we went BMW 328d wagon. Works well for me.

I am in the same boat. I test drove a 2018 Volvo XC60 and I really liked it. Not a performance suv, but roomy while not overly large. The T8 brings 400 hp via the ICM and electric motors. The air suspension was nice too.

OP said he was looking for something a few years old to be inline with his budget so anything brand new like the Maser or the Panny wagon I don't think fit his criteria from a price perspective.

I actually think the Panny wagon looks better than the sedan, but so far that's the one model I haven't been able to warm up to the looks of in any generation.
