Data point for everyone. The last two clutch jobs I did on 997.1 cars they had bad pressure plates. Clutch disks still had plenty of life left (they were replaced anyway of course). One car the slippage was so bad it ruined the DMF (this car also had a slave that was going), the other the DMF was ok.

So bad pressure plates seem to be common these days. I have another one coming in shortly (997.2) and I'll report back the issue but the customer is describing it as bad pressure plate (we shall see).

Also, counter to many suggestions in this thread I suggest customers have me pull the engine for the job. Not to increase labor, but because these cars are getting old, many have a coolant flush due anyway and it is common to find issues with heat and age related components on the engine itself that are cheapest to replace when the motor is out. Things like AOS hoses, oil fill tubes, crispy wiring, the infamous belt area coolant junction and the brake vacuum line (these last two don't require engine out of course).

Auto Sport Haus in DT San Francisco (632 Ellis St.) great honest Indy Porsche Specialist Shop.
30 year owner Frank x-Porsche Race Team Mechanic. As skilled and honest as they come. Anytine I pass through SF I have him service my Porsche's.

Here he is servicing my 06 Cab 4 years ago on my way home after Bay Area Purchase. He replaced Idler Pulleys/belt and did oil change.
Stellar service as usual!

I concur about Frank. I relied on him for years in the 1990's when I lived nearby in SF and had a 944S and a 911T. Great guy and super honest!

Another local recommendation: Hi-Tech Automotive in San Rafael. https://www.hitecauto.com/

For the SF Bay Area members, they're both included in this thread...

Do you drop the whole motor down?
