How many here have tracked regularly with 1st gen PDK no issues? What's your mileage if so.

I just want to add something to the thread about 997.2 PDK I had a 09 I put over 50,000 miles on. I have heard from other owners as well, the 09's have increased oil consumption, more then my 997 GT3 did. It isn't a problem but something to be aware of if your looking for a newer 911.

While we're at it, from 35K to almost 105K miles with oil changes every 5K ... 7.5 quarts out and the same back in every time. No additions in between. Yes, some people have seen oil burning, but in general the 9A1 does not seem to be plagued by this.
Nor is the PDK plagued from what I can see. We're at 9% in a poll that is biased toward posting an insanely inflated value.

Still valuable info. It's good to keep track of issues, which mostly are electrical.

I tried to keep abreast of this issue and spoke to friends that are techs at 2 dealers. Neither has seen a pdk failure in a 997.2, but have replaced a pdk in a Panamera and a 991.1. In contrast, both had seen a handful of 997.1 IMS failures. Not scientific, but not insignificant.
I have had pdks in a 997.2 turbo purchased new and daily driven, 991.1 GT3, C4S cab, Macan S (wife's DD) and her current C2 cab with no issues. I, however, was sufficiently concerned about the pdk in my wife's current C2 cab purchased in May for the summer to buy a Fidelity warranty just because it had a pdk. Car made it through summer and is now listed for sale.
RE: pdk service
I know a lot of guys here use Indies and do stuff themselves. Don't, however, cut corners on the pdk service. Even if you have only 20,000 miles, the pdk is supposed to be serviced at 6 years. We serviced the wife's pdk right after buying her 2010 C2 in May and it made a noticeable difference.
RE: 50,000 + miles pdk failures in poll
How many of these 50,000 plus mile failures truly had a proper and timely pdk service before the failure? If the pdk went out after 50,000 miles and the pdk was not serviced, that is on the owner and not the pdk.

Burning Brakes
71,000 miles and no failures on my 2009 4S Cab's PDK. Knock wood. PDK Fluids changed at Porsche at 60K miles.

Important or not, I don't know but there are two posts about failures under 30,000 miles (posts # 5 & 13) but poll results only shows one.

Yup. The failure rate is obviously very low but so damn expensive when they happen which is the only reason it's discussed to begin with. Just like IMS on the .1 cars. My CPO coverage expires end of year and I'm getting a Fidelity policy only because of the PDK. I would be 100% comfortable with a 997.2 out of warranty as long as it was a 6sp manual.

With core exchange it's only ~$11k. If you can afford a 911, $11k shouldn't scare you IMO.

Labor adds a few more thousand to that, and it's not a DIY. I'll agree that for a brand new 911 owner 15 or 20K is what they makes in a day of hedge fund returns while they fret about ordering deviated stitching. For a second or third owner and enthusiast with a family and kids, and a wife that watches these things...perhaps not.
