Agree! This thread got me looking into prior maintenance records. It appears that the previous owner didn't get the PDK oil change at the 60k mark. I got different answers from dealerships around here though! one told me it should be every 100k vs the other who said it's every 60k. I think I'm just gonna get it, almost everywhere I look says it should be every 60k..

991 PDK is now 90k I believe, so the recommended maintenance interval is longer 991 vs 997.2. 997.2 is 60k recommended. Probably where the confusion arose.

My replacement came to just shy of $15K so I guess it's come down. And it's not a matter of being scared but a matter of risk management. I've seen first hand how these things can be considered beyond repair due to what may be the failure of a $100 electronic component. In other words, you can drive a PDK car everyday as if you're taking grandma to church, have it serviced right on schedule and still suffer a complete failure due to electronics going bad. Almost like having a computer that can't be rebooted and has to be replaced every time it freezes up. Except much costlier.

Had my 2012 GTS PDK for a little over a month now. Thank goodness it was CPO because the dealer just called and told me it needs a new trans. Just at 50k miles. Hopefully I get more than 50k out of the new one!

Can you find out the cause of the failure. Might be helpful to know for those of us to pick the right after market warranty.

I've done nearly 30k miles, including two track days and several hill climbs (20 minutes, flat out) in my 2010 C4S without a failure, although I have had a hot and smelly clutch at the top of the hill ...

I'll ask the mechanic when I pick the car up what caused the issue. Are there any guides out there for the right way to drive PDK for longevity and wear? For example, I've heard you should never accelerate while downshifting. It would make for a great sticky.

2009 C2S, 41k miles and no issues. Dealer told me that I didn't need to service it until 100k.

Hmm....my service advisor told me yesterday mine is due at 60K which is not far off. On my list of people to call Monday morning.

Should be done at 6 years or 60,000 miles, which ever comes first. Your 2009 is way past due.

I will reach out to them again and try to schedule the service even though some of the porsche mechanics said is not needed.
