Default 997.2 PDK failure Survey

Hi all,

Seems like we're seeing more and more PDK failures lately, sounds like most are caused by Electronics failures (temp sensors, etc...).

Would be good to do a quick survey and keep this going to keep track of these problems. Personally, I think Porsche should provide a longer powertrain warranty on these transmissions like many others do (10yrs on average).

Please state the following with your answer:

- Has your PDK failed?
- If so, what year, model and mileage of the car?
- What has been the cause (if determined by dealer)
- Did you get warranty coverage, or good will from dealer?
- If not, what's been the cost of repair (parts and labour)?

This would be good info to have moving forward.

No failure.

2009 Targa 4S. ~32,000 miles. I had the 6 year PDK service done at a Porsche dealership (~$1100, included replacing the pan) at ~20,000 miles over a year ago.

Failed and replaced around 25,000 miles as I recall it. Codes pulled by the dealer suggested some kind of electronics related problem. This was forwarded to PCNA who ordered the whole unit replaced. 2009 C4S launch car.

If Hyundai and now Volkswagen can have a 100K mile warranty then a premium brand like Porsche (or BMW, Audi, etc) should definitely raise their own bar. You’re certainly paying the price up-front for it. No excuses anymore.

Sorry, slightly off-topic.

unfortunately this poll will never be representative of just how small a portion of these cars had failures. of course people who are active in the enthusiast community will show a higher number of failures.. since there are people who post on this forum who are only here because of a failure. whereas folks who are not enthusiasts and have not had any issue that have no reason to be on this forum or any other.

2009 C2S with 25,000 and PDK went out about 20,000. Luckily I had bought the Fidelity and taken care of with no problems.
