Hi,

In total (not counting the antenna connectors, there are 4 connectors:
- the MOST connector
- a blue connector with 6 wires
- a green connector with 10+ wires
- a black connector with 7 wires
- thick brown with red stripe = ground
- thick red wire = permanent 12V
- the rest dunno
- which wire needs power to power the antenna and maybe the amp
- which wire is the illumination wire
- which wires are for the built in microphone

what year vehicle is that out of?
WAY WAY different than mine.
The YELLOW block connectors are for your GPS
Black ones are your Antenna (and maybe SirusXM antenna)

yeah - mine's an 06 997.1
I only had two connectors -
One was pretty much the CanBus and light controller (signal) and the others were power and power for antenna -
I didn't have sirus xm OR Steering wheel controls -
you may have to go with the Axxess conversion box -
What head unit are you doing?

@BallVice Pioneer AVH 1440-NEX . There's no Axxess box for a 997.2.
If you enter 2009 as the model year, they show you a box that fits 997.1
If you enter 2010 as the model year, they have no products
I'll get the Pioneer tomorrow, then I'll know if I get it to work ....

OK, installed the Pioneer AVH 1440-NEX last night.(I'll update over the weekend with more details)
I like the unit and especially Apple CarPlay (That was the main reason why I upgraded)
Overall successful, but have two issues:
a) no radio reception (I plugged in the Porsche antenna via an adapter), my guess is that the antenna amp doesn't get the signal to turn on, any pointers appreciated. Again this is for a 997.2
b) weird problem with Navigation in Apple CarPlay: when Apple maps wants to give "spoken directions" the Pioneer lowers the volume of the music, but I hear no directions, no matter how much I increase the "spoken directions" volume

Look for a yellow wire that turns on when the car turns on. That’s the antenna power wire - I had to connect mine to get reception.
It was wither yelloe or green - but I believe yellow.

I looked at the AVX100/200 and the AVX5000. I like all three - but no HD audio and I don' think there is a video input for screen mirroring (cheater Waze) ;-)
Looking at Alpine - Kenwood - and Pioneer at the moment
Then check out the AVH-"W"4400NEX or the "W"6400NEX
WIFI CarPlay - and HDMI in for you to EASILY screen mirror waze - I'll be installing it tomorrow when the Sirius Module arrives.

Thanks for all the updates, I am ready to pull the trigger and install a Pioneer AVH 1440-NEX
Couple of questions about the wiring:
The Pioneer has these three wires which need to be connected:
Did you find which wires in the Porsche harness are for Lighting and Antenna-power?

- Bonus question 1: My PCM 3.0 has Sirius/XM, can I re-use the existing Sirius/XM Antenna ?
- Bonus question 2: Do you know on which pins on the Porsche harness the microphone is (I would like to re-use that as well to have the install look as OEM as possible)

PICS PLEASE?
I want to know how you like that unit - I am about to pull the trigger on something for the Suburban next - want to know how you like the 1400

OK, all done :-)
here comes my summary. The descriptions above are really good, so I am only adding info what's different for a 997.2. It's basically all electrical or connectors
For those of you, who have never see the backside of a PCM 3.0 radio, here it is.
The connectors are totally different from a PCM 2.1 radio
From left to right:
The antenna connectors release with pressure to the back, the electrical connector goes out in one piece, there's a lever on the back that needs to be pulled up
OK, in order to connect our new radio we need the following electrical connections
You get three connections from the main connector (see picture above)
I didn't want to do any splicing, so that I can easily re-install the OEM radio, therefore I made my own connections
I had a wire harness laying around and stole a few of the connectors, then I heat shrinked an isolator on it and bend them 90 degrees
This allowed me to easily tap into the OEM connector
The signals for illumination, ACC and (if you really want to connect it) handbrake come from a connector below the A/C control unit
I found this great article on-line, scroll down about 2/3 and you'll find the instructions
https://cai-store.com/pages/997-boxs...o-installation
For me the icing on the cake was to re-use my existing XM antenna to keep it as OEM as possible
If you look at the antenna connector you see that even though the electrical connector (the silver thing inside) will fit the new XM adapter, there's physically no way to make it fit.
the reason is the (yellow) plastic housing is in the way.
I first considered breaking it, but then I figured out that the pink "plate" can be (gently) removed with a super thin screwdriver (like the ones you use for fixing glasses)
after I removed it, the electrical connector came free and I could easily plug it into my new XM adapter
Voila, I now have Apple CarPlay in my 2009 997.2 C4S

From left to right:
- FM antenna (black)
- Sirius/XM antenna (if you have that) (yellow)
- GPS antenna (blue)
- electrical connections port (also includes MOST)
- my best guess for the yellow connector all the way to the right is that this is for a phone antenna?

- ground
- illumination

and now my (very short) review about the Pioneer AVH 1440-NEX:
the reason why I swapped it was that I wanted:
- Bluetooth streaming that works
- Apple CarPlay
- updated maps (mine were from 2009) w/o forking over hundreds of $$$ to Porsche (I think the money I spent on the whole conversion is less that what new maps + installation would have cost me)
- extra bonus: native Pandora and Spotify support
drawbacks:
- I miss a volume dial (it's now all buttons)
- The Pandora and Spotify support (when NOT using CarPlay but using Bluetooth streaming) is sometimes a bit shaky, but that's no big deal

Can someone explain the reason for the price range on MOST HUR devices? I am seeing a range from $99 (ebay device used by bhvrdr) up to $600. Should I expect a quality difference or will these boxes all work similarly?
Also, can I really do this myself? A bit concerned about the wiring piece and getting the hot wire to the fuse box.
