Good to know. I'll keep an eye on it.

Looks like they sold, but I appreciate the heads up

More parts collecting and maintenance.

I picked up a set of lightly used Toyo R888's in 305/30/19 and 235/35/19 for half the cost of new

I got another quarter off ebay for $500 shipped via greyhound, even got to see a bum fight while picking it up.

Got a rear GT3RS style deck lid from D2S, the one from CARID.com. Overall impression is good, but it's going to need some work. The decklid is decent, the uprights and winglets are garbage, and the wing itself looks decent.

Figured i'd do the 60,000 mile service now while everything was apart, which includes spark plugs. Did the coil packs too since it was easy to do now.

Plug didn't look too bad

Upgraded coil packs

Before

After

Had to lower the motor 3-4" to get a little more room to do the ones behind the muffler brackets

Also started rolling the rears.

Great thread...keep up the fantastic work!

You keeping the car silver, re-painting it...maybe a vinyl wrap?

Very cool build! Cool to see a 997 torn apart in this manner. Can't wait to see how it turns out.

Super cool! That's a very ambitious project! Can't wait to see "final" pics...are they ever "done"?

Thanks guys.

The quarter replacement was next.

I know replacing the whole quarter would have been the "right" way to do it, but it's a salvage car i'm tracking, so I took the easily route.

Measured a bunch of times and laid it out

Of course there was a dent, probably from shipping, right in the area I needed

Drilled out all the spot welds and cut

Got it mocked up where I wanted it with Clecos

Then used the same method I did for welding the flares on the 77, where I lapped the two panels and cut down the middle to make a butt joint.

And tack welding as I went

Welded up the spot welds and Cleco holes

Next up is to clean up the spot welds and weld the rest. It's not perfect, but it turned out pretty decent.

Fun fact.. see that black foam just aft of his cut line on the original fender? That is placed strategically throughout both rear fender panels to eliminate both low and high frequency vibrations in the fenders which quiets the cabin. That foam is not present in GT cars (the few I've seen).

Awesome thread btw. I need to learn to weld someday.

Thanks guys, that is a fun fact

Test fit the wing. Needs some work, but overall not too terrible for being aftermarket fiberglass

Holes are off on the mounting brackets

And needed to be opened up

The uprights looked like they were made with an angle grinder

Cleaned up a little

Base needed a little cleaning up around the LED light, unfortunately the light is glued in and not easily removed.

Destickered the front end. The whole thing had a clear bra on it. What a pain to remove

Before

After

Finished up the metalwork on the rear quarter.

Not the prettiest, but ended up mig welding one inch at a time a series of tack welds. Then used compressed air to cool it off between sections. Turned out decent, no warpage.

First pass grinding it down

Still parts collecting...

New-used set of KW V3

I picked up a front set of Tarett monoball front strut mounts off ebay. New-used from someone for cheap. Mocked up one side

Another ebay find, numeric racing shift cables for cheap

All things torque solutions and SPC lower control arms

Got this brake vacuum bleeder that hooks up to the air compressor, should make bleeding the brakes much easier.

Last score for now, Agency Power mufflers off craigslist for cheap

Got some Nest cameras for the house and installed one in the garage for fun

Love this! What's under the tarp? My first guess from the rear shot was M Coupe, but in that last photo showing the front....I'm not so sure anymore.
