Just buy what will make you happy. Don't buy a coupe and then always have the "I wish I got a cab" thought.

Yea, but those ones aren't the real thing.

You can tell by looking at the center area. They look cast, not forged. Also, not sure that Porsche center caps fit HRE's (could be wrong on that detail, but regardless, those are not HRE's).

I wouldn't get too hung up on values of cab vs. coupe, especially if your main goal is to drive and enjoy it. If you look at the auction thread, some of the biggest dollar cars have been cabs.

I had the same dilemma - love convertibles but hate the 996 cab look. I ended up buying a coupe and bought a Honda S2000 in the same color for when I want some top down cruising!

I don't know what a 996tt cab would be like, since the tt and n.a. 996 are two completely different animals, but I love my 996 cab. On warm evenings or sunny days, top down driving is a blast. My tt coupe with the sunroof open doesn't begin to compare with the open air feeling of a convertible. If I had to have just one and it was a tt, I'd get the cab. The only downside is that with the hardtop on, it just doesn't look right, but that's purely subjective. Get the one you desire most. Any tt in good shape is an excellent choice.

Don't know why they had to make the hardtop so unattractive. I use mine in the winter sometimes but it looks like 2 turtles humping. I am in awe of the coupe's lines, it is gorgeous. The hardtop does reduce the interior noise quite a bit but I leave it off 95% of the time. I have had a couple of coupes before but I have to say the cab has more entertainment value. Everyday to work and back, spring through fall, with the top down - priceless. Great head reset.
