My current fave is Beezpura's Soul with factory cats... I thought it wasn't to terribly loud, and got away from that hideous factory multi chamber unit. I will do something exhaust wise this year on it.
That is what I am running right now... I bought his Souls and running with my factory cats. Too quiet IMHO on throttle, but not obnoxious off throttle like the Soul's with cat bypass.
I actually think I prefer cat bypass with stock exhaust over stock cat with Soul exhaust.... Kind of a pain to switch back just to compare and make sure, especially if I go to the permutation below...
I think cat bypass with Soul exhaust would be perfect if I did a custom tune to dial out the overly loud decell burbles and pops with that setup.
I watched the video of his car on the dyno and thought, gee, that sounds really good - if you go back to OEM/de catted, isn't the burble issue the unburnt fuel burning in the muffler?

I think so... Porsche in their wisdom added lots of that burble and pop in their standard ECU mapping, I think to partially overcome the library silent nature of the stock exhaust... but it just becomes too much IMHO when you open up the exhaust and cats to get a good sound out of them. More so in the 991.1 than the 991.2, as the .1 had decel burble programmed in in SPORT and SPORT Plus, but the .2 has it in SPORT only.
Something like the SOUL sport cats with the soul exhaust might be the perfect compromise, even with the stock decell/burble, but I'm more than a little reluctant to spend $2,400 for the cats alone without hearing that combo in person, on a .1 first. If Soul wants to send me a set for testing, I'll happily bolt up combination #7, Soul exhaust with Soul sport cats!
Just saw this, sorry - I honestly do not know - there seems to be a little crackle in all modes (as good as my ears tell me), but not over powering. It's a .2
Great pic and shout out to the cool Rabbit across the street. drove a bunch of those through the college years and beyond. My first new car was an 83 GTI. Loved tossing that car around. It was the first silver car ordered with blue interior at the dealership and people went nuts realizing red was not the only interior color to be had. I think it was $8800 out the door. Could be wrong about that.
My first car was an 84-GTI black with the blue interior, Boge progas shocks all 4 corners, Stebro muffler, European exhaust manifold and downpipes, cut coil springs. That car was a riot. Wheel spin into 3rd sometimes.
Got rear ended by a lady putting on makeup at 100km/h when traffic suddenly stopped. So sad. Insurance paid out more than I paid for the car it was so clean.
