Looks like some track time for someone.
How did you fit all that in the 996?
And.... is the Unobtanium installed? Looks stockish on the exhaust tips...
Exhaust on the car right now is a slightly different titanium catless that uses somewhat smaller diameter piping the stock tips. Slightly more mellow around town, still has a nice howl at full throttle. No drone. I can't replicate that sound on my 991 no matter how hard I try!
Yes, a great private track day last week. The 996 Turbo is just a blast on the track... I didn't have my 991 Turbo S at the track, but did some back-to-back laps in my buddies modified 991.2 Turbo S which feels very similar to my 991. Both are incredibly quick and do very similar lap times, but it's remarkable how much difference there is in how the 996 vs 991 feels and responds when close to the limit. The 996 just tells you everything it is doing (at least the way mine is set up)... Steering feedback, tire feedback, road feel, howling exhaust, even the brakes and does a great job telling you exactly where the limit is. On the other hand, the 991 just does everything so well with very very little drama.
I usually summarize the difference as "The 996 Turbo makes a good driver want to be a great driver... The 991 Turbo makes a good driver feel like a great driver!"
You change exhausts as I change tyres - very nice.
My track day was cancelled; I haven't been on a track for a decade and a half, so sad - I hope the fires clear up and I get another chance at it, getting sketchy though moving into October.
I've had *six* exhaust permutations on the 991 Turbo! Still haven't found the right combo...
I know, I have been watching with great interest.
My current fave is Beezpura's Soul with factory cats... I thought it wasn't to terribly loud, and got away from that hideous factory multi chamber unit. I will do something exhaust wise this year on it.
