Default Factory Turbo Aerokit

I like the looks of it but does it help in high speed stability compared to stock setup? Any owners of 996TT out there that can comment? Thanks

I've been told by other "experts" on Rennlist that Porsche wind-tunnel tests their aerokits and that they are supposed to have an added benefit at a certain speed (probably 100mph+).

All that aside, they look damn good!

Does anybody have the specifics on the benefits? E.g. down force increases 30% at 170mph, etc.

Shan,

I owned an 02 TT without the Aerokit and now own an 03 TT with the Aerokit - there is a noticeable and marked difference in the road feel and downforce in the car at all highway speeds - I've been up to 145 in my car and it just stays stuck - period. I cannot beleive what a difference it makes. My 2 cents. T2

Good question and like Shan I wouldn't mind some specifics.

Eg, Ferrari in their literature claimed 95 lbs down force on their 355, and 390 lbs on the 360 bc of design and more wind tunnel testing. ( The bottom is a fully enclosed chassis with a nice full-length, central inverted airfoil tunnel underneath. ) Can't recall at what speed but think specs were for close to the top speed.

Even neutral is better than positive lift. Didn't media say that Corvette ( and others ) experience some positve lift as they got closer to top speeds?

At higher track speeds the TT w. Aero didn't feel "light" or floaty. Nor did it feel as "connected" as the 360, but I think this is bc of the soft stock NA spec suspension.

Perhaps Porsche AG might make specs available and confirm for us that the TT Aero kit resulted in some measured downforce and wasn't just cosmetic.

Imho, I think that the Aero finishes off the TT appearance very nicely and distances it from the base 996. Seems to get positive feedback from other car enthusiasts - regardless of what they're driving.

Just my thoughts. Anyone have the downforce numbers from Porsche?

If anyone is interested in buying the aerokit, I have a brand new kit (front and rear pieces) still in the box that I intend to sell. I bought it from Gert. But, after lowering the car, I am confident that I am going to repeatedly smash the front air dam.

Bought it for $5,300, would like to get $5K shipped within the U.S. (otherwise I will try to return to Gert).

If anyone is interested, I've also put my aerokit up on eBay.
