Default 40k mile 996TT with X50 in Fort Wayne, IN

Just saw this car on carguruss. Dealer is asking $35k for an '04 TT Cab with x50 pkg and 40k on clock. Lots of extras according to VIN decoder. No affliation, no clue to maintenance or anything else. If I was still looking I would be checking this out

That is a good find, but at 35k something isn't adding up.

It's a cab and an automatic. 35k sounds about right.

Agreed. NADA book value is right on with that, and if it's a car dealership that isn't in the market to read consumer demand this is what they book at.

I forwarded it on to a buddy.

Nice looking Cab, I like the cinnamon brown interior. The price is low, I would have expected at least $40K. Sounds like a nice by if it clears a ppi and drives well.

Gorgeous color combo. Absolute steal at $35k unless there are stories.

Well, folks are *asking* that much anyway.

If you check the "sold" listings in eBay (which admittedly, may represent the lower-end of the pricing range)(due to limited ability to inspect, etc...), $35k does not look so out-of-line, if the seller really wants to move the car.

As someone who has been actively shopping, that price would definitely look low if the car were a manual.

With the Tip, it is less clear to me.

Again, going by eBay "solds," Tips often don't even move, so there is not as much data available there...

in my experience cars that sell on ebay do not depict actual market value. Typically it seems ebay cars seem to sell for 10-20% less. This isn't just specific to Porsche's but other cars i've looked into buying as well.

But ... but ... but ... that that runs counter to the arguments this was an appropriately priced 996tt.

As with everything else in life ... you are going to get what you pay for.

There are NO 'no stories' 996tts out there for $35k.

'04, X50 with low miles ...

Yup, like I said...

..."lower-end" (for all the expected reasons).

But mind you, a car at some dealer that is not local to you is much the same as an eBay car.

I have also looked into cars on eBay with some frequency over the years, and am always surprised how often private-sale cars show-up later at dealers for a modest delta over what the private-sale ask was. Generally implying to me that the private sellers took less than their ask.

It is also funny that sometimes these reappearances happen just after the private sale expires from the eBay history searches...
