The 2001 Turbo for sale in the last link posted above also shows cup holders. It's what generated my question as I didn't recall cup holders being standard or optional for the 2001 996 Turbo.

The cupholders appear oem to me. The later 2001 builds (as this one is) had the cup holders as standard, I believe build dates starting around April of 2001. I have a March 2001 build and no cupholders. Also, the cupholders here are in a different location than if it had PCM. With PCM, the cupholder slot looks like a CD slot just above the PCM screen.

The CD slot looking cupholders are what came standard in the 2002 996 Turbo. I'm not sure they were available in 2001 as standard or optional.

The cup holders pictured are what were standard on the 2001 (at least on mine). If anyone cares to purchase them they are no longer in use, but work just fine. :-)

What month was your Turbo built?

July 2001. They were the same as what was placed in the Boxster of the time. I removed them to facilitate a double DIN radio and removed the CD holder as pictured to facilitate a storage slot in its place.

I wonder if anyone here has or had a stock interior '01 with a build date earlier than July 2001 who can comment on the cup holders (or no cup holders) in that car.

My car with stock interior was built July 2001, no cupholders.

That's what I remember; stock '01 Turbo = no cup holders.
