I hear you, don’t want to sound preachy either but I can’t help but think about Paul Walker when I see ads with old, original tires.

Agreed. Tip and gray interior will turn off some. Doesn’t bother me but may limit buyers. Air intake is not stock, what system is that?

Were cup holders standard (or optional) in 2001 for the 996 Turbo?

I know they were standard equipment starting in 2002, but my recollection (which is admittedly hazy) is that they were available as an option for the pre-2002 996, but not standard equipment or optional for the 2001 996 Turbo. I looked in the 2001 996 Turbo order guide and saw nothing about cup holders being standard or optional, but I may have missed it (or Porsche just didn't list it).

It could be a matter of early 2001 versus later 2001 as my 2001 996 Turbo order guide is dated February 1, 2001.

yeah I didn't notice anything on my option list about the cupholder but have seen some without one. Looks OEM to me, replaces one of the cubbies
Edit: you can see it in this pic, above the stereo

I have no doubt that it is a Porsche part.
I seem to remember back in the day reading on 6Speed about 2001 996 Turbo owners retrofitting the 996 cup holder.
