The emissions exemptions kick in after 24 years. So for the 2001 next year will be exempt, which is great....because my car doesn't like the DPS machine for some reason.

I thought it was by county? If you live in the boonies (BFE to a Texan) you don't have to get emissions tested or any inspection. I think...

It is by county. My turbo came from a non-emisssion county and it was a little more of a PITA to do the registration because of it. That said they only do an ODBII check and even with the Markski tune it passed. I can't wait to see if they truly don't do emission testing after 24 years since I have a MR2 spyder with an engine swap and standalone ECU that I have to swap out every year to get it to pass the ODBII scan.
