Ok. I think they hooked mine up to the computer when I had it inspected last August. I'm Harris county. We will still have emissions checks. I will look into the year thing. I think the major change removing inspections is not until 2025. I had the 3rd brake light out but they still passed me. The connector was not fully seated, easy fix.

Yeah, it was kind of obvious based on his location stated on the 2 websites.

I lived in Buda along time ago and got a kick out of the inspection process down there. I believe that is hays county. My truck passed with flying colors, but it would of passed a legit inspection as well.

Ironically my car came from Jersey and just passed an inspection with a faulty 3rd brake light. Aren't inspection up there pretty ridiculous?

The only thing they check in New Jersey is emissions.

Oh. I thought it was very strict for some reason. I know it's nothing like the UK, but figured it was rigorous. Tinted windows were a big deal here unless you "knew a guy" or found a place that didn't care. Mine were not even that dark. Annoying. That should be going away but the cops can still ticket you.

New Jersey inspections used to be ridiculous. Unbelievably thorough. Every lightbulb, brakes, suspension, you name it. Then about 20 years ago, they got rid of it all and now only check emissions.

Gotcha. I probably heard of it from my Greek friend circa 1996 at Ga Tech who was from Ramsey. Apparently everything we did in the South was wrong, lmao.

also, is that leather horseshoe aftermarket? Don’t think I’ve seen one in deviating stitching before, and the leather looks quite fresh.

I bought my turbo S convertible with 40k miles last year for ~$70k. Encouraging to see one with 60k miles for more!

I know the leather horseshoe can be had as part of the full leather interior (sans carbon, etc.) but not sure about the stitching.

WP0AB299X5S685292 on c041v's spreadsheet has XMZ (leather center console) and Z88 (deviating stitching). I think that is the main console and not the horseshoe though.

In Mass the only thing they don't check is emissions! Light bulbs, seat belts, jack it up to check ball joints, picture of the odometer & license plates, it's quite a good deal for $35 bucks. And it is totally worthless to keep unsafe cars off the roads...

Same in RI. It is widely known and accepted as a gift to the independent garages by the legislature. It is impossible to escape from an "inspection" without a tab for $100.00 or so.....

At an inspection I was quoted $300 to fix a parking light on my MIL's Jeep something or other since the "bumper had to come off". I peeled the rejection sticker off the window (basically the red flag that tries to hold you hostage at the shop that did the inspection), bought a bulb on the way home, spent 15 minutes groping around behind the wheel liner, and went to a different shop the next day to get it reinspected.

We're definitely subsidizing shops a bit and maybe improving safety some here in VA. I'm pretty sure there's a lot more human error or hubris than equipment failures behind traffic accidents around here.
