Default Lighting options for litronics

I am getting old. Sad to say but the ol' eyeballs need more light to see than they used to. I've done a few searches on upgrading of the litronics to brighter bulbs and was wondering if anyone else has done it?

I do a fair bit of highway driving at night and having brighter low beams would be helpful. Even the HID's on the wife's family truckster are brighter than the 996. I would also say my 997's are brighter too, so perhaps that's an upgrade path as well for bulbs and ballasts?

Thanks for any ideas,
Scott

ballast should be fine. Just get new bulbs
stick with 4300k if you want brighter. 5000k 6000k etc will be whiter but it won't be as good as 4300

Are any brands better than others? It seems that Phillips is the brand most buy, but I wonder if they have a performance line?

these should do the trick https://www.theretrofitsource.com/co...l#.Vls-h41dHIU
it might also be the projector bowls are getting 'burnt' depending if they've seen extended usage over the years
love the headlights in mine, high beams in particular are killer!

I might give these try too! My eyes are getting a little worst at night myself. I thought the lights on turbo were pretty good until I recently just put some new high power 7" LED headlights in my old 95 LWB Range Rover they are amazing, bright and perfectly focussed. Do the HIDs get dimmer over time?

Be sure to let us know the magnitude of the improvement. I was wondering the same thing about getting a little more light.

I did, and find them to be a worthwhile upgrade for $150. I would say they are about 25% brighter than the stock ones that I had in it. That's all subjective of course, but I'd do it again. I still think I need to do some work on the aim, as in they need to be a little higher, but they are for sure putting out more light.

steve is there any potential for harm or more juice needed from the ballast by running a 6k VS a 4300 stock??
after reading this thread and realizing i too am old and nearly sightless ( tho dmv has decided i can "see" well enough to let me drive another 5 yrs minimum lol ) i also was thinking last night while driving ( as i am literally in the woods w NO streelamps ) that a few k more luminescence couldn't hurt.

or could it??

No problem at all running a 6000K bulb Mark.
4300k puts out more lumens, but 6000k is more white/blue in colour
