As indicated above, maybe the owner was annoyed by how the leather airbags bubble over time? The vinyl ones never do, and are cheaper to buy.

Forget the dealer explaining it. Once up on a lift a good independent shop will be able to tell pretty quickly if the car was in an accident.

I will say it again, if that car passes a PPI it is a good deal.

The leather on the covered airbags has a tendency get "bubbles" with old age. Also a very possible someone changed out the steering wheel for one that looks new.

I haven’t looked at the int pics but if the leather airbag cover has been replaced with vinyl, and the VIN gets into this thread, it’s toast. Pass

In case anyone is wondering, after exchanging emails with the “product specialist” at this dealer, he couldn’t give me a coherent reason for the airbag replacement and refused to have a 3rd party shop of my choosing do a PPI. Well, that’s that.

I had that problem with mine; hit it with a heat gun and it smoothed back to normal.
