Those are low prices and if the norm must mean high supply -low demand or just not desired. Sellers are taking a large hit with depreciation.

New cars here are generally a good bit cheaper than they are in most places and depreciation is very large due to the demographic. People who can afford new cars tend to move them quickly and those who can afford it would rather have a new car than a slightly used second hand one; this applies especially to prestige cars. 1st owners take a very big hit on sales because of this.

The number of high performance and prestige cars here is disproportionate to the population. I have sat in traffic in my Cayenne and seen another 6 Cayennes without looking too far. Within 150ft of my cars in my apartment parking garage, there at least another 10 Porsches, a Gallardo and a few AMG Mercedes.

One exception to this are rugged 4x4s such as LX570s, Land Cruisers and Nissan Patrols, many of the locals use them in the desert and hang on to them longer as the model changes are infrequent.

The vehicles I posted are typically of the market; there are few examples a little above the range but typically will have much lower mileage.

Why would new be cheaper there than in the US? Other info clears up most of my questions.

Don't know, lower import taxes?

Just checked the basic price of a GT3 RS: US $175,000 UAE $163,000

Seriously though? Why?

I had a 400++ hp Nogaro blue S4 B5 along with my M5 E60 couple of years ago and sure, the S4 was fast but never as much fun as the M5 even though the M5 is a much heavier car.

How can a regular A4 be a favorite?

It has four doors plenty of room and its disposable. I have had 5 A4s and its more about the good times I've had with the car than anything else. I have owned/own cars with more HP than my 996tt. Also I have had cars that were slow by comparison but a blast to drive that I enjoyed as much or more than my 911. I love the b5 S4 and enjoyed driving them but they do have a lot of issues that go with the twin turbos etc = much like the 996tt..

Sorry, I thought you meant in the US. $50k here certainly doesn't buy much of a 997tt here.

I have heard rumors that in the UAE and other middle eastern countries that many high dollar cars are abandoned if the owner can't make the payments. There is a stigma with not being able to pay your debts?

While you're here thought; what do you think about someone posting on the public forum a PM they received from another poster here?

Cars are are left behind by those who are in trouble in the country and leaving rapidly. This is generally by one's own doing. It's not that common but if you bounce a cheque then you are in gaol.

Support? KC has been nothing but a PITA to the 996 crowd, so we foisted him onto you guys.

Gotta agree, no public PM posting. I got slapped for that once, before I realized the rule. KC should be defrocked, disbarred, and publicly flogged.

I think if you make an unconditional offer and then back out of it you are a giant something and you don't get to bitch about what happens thereafter.

I also think that you trying to take down the attorney on something unrelated to you personally shows... something.

I also don't give a ****, but you seem like a great guy who is just really misunderstood, by nearly everyone nearly all the time.

His offer was not unconditional. Here is what he offered on the public forum..."PM me the wire info, title history and PPI report you pulled when purchased. Assuming good, I will wire you money and send transport.". His "Assuming good" is without question a conditional statement. On the other hand, the forum rule I posted does not say that posting a PM on the public forum is allowed if the person (who sent the PM) deserves it.

The conduct of the forum, especially regarding the protection of PM's, is of importance to everyone who posts here. So kcattorney posting on the public forum a PM he received from someone here is not unrelated to me personally.
