its disposable, I'd just rather dispose of it in other ways.

Oh if its disposable then you cant go wrong with the 996tt its one of the best cars for the money period. In my opinion any sports car is not practical compared to suvs for room, economical cars that get great mileage etc.

I know its a great car for the money, no question there.

basically, i drive less than 1 mile to the train station 5 days per week. Car would sit outside 24/7/365. I need to get to work in 12+" of snow, i need to get groceries, occasionally carry larger objects, etc etc.

With that in mind, my mercedes really meets those needs better. I also would have needed to do quite a bit of updating to the 996 to get the navigation up to snuff, i would have needed snow tires, etc.

The benz costs me nothing, and the drivetrain is far less performance oriented so it handles the short trips better in my mind.

I still have the 993TT for fun stuff, so its not like I won't get to have any fun.

thanks again for the input.

Enough said if you have a 993TT you got the fun factor covered lol. I have different cars for different needs so can understand your position. I'm on the fence about selling my 996TT as I never seem to have time to use it= as during good weather I'm busy doing other things.

Yeah, I have a thought.
Since you are going to drive this car in the salt....keep the Benz!

I think you got it right OP. I bought mine to use as a dailyish driver, year round. Always going to be cheaper than anything vaguely new and interesting, and what a great way to commute!

Except.....trouble is, I kept our valueless subaru beater, it was working fine. And I'm still driving it. The 996TT truly is cheap for what it is. But what it is, is a beautiful and astonishingly fast automotive creation that I just can't help leaving for best. Its just too special. Dammit.

Probably just the honeymoon period, and will wear off. Hope not!

Good point, I've been drooling over some of the new technology lately, namely the Corvette/Viper. But now that my first TT is track only, I'm starting to just want another one instead of something else.

For what it costs, and what it is, I don't think there is a better car out there. It sits perfectly between old school and new school IMO.

I had agreed to buy that car from the Mercedes dealer contingent on the PPI... Once the engine issue was identified, I passed...

Has 19" Champion wheels and also the original set.
His a second owner, has had it for 2 years or so.
Guards red with black interior and top.

Price: $59k OBO.

Car is in South Florida. I can post some photos later.

Anyone interested, PM me.

I recently bought my 04 996TT from Momentum and I saw they had a couple of other Porsches there right after I bought mine (01/04/14). They have some fabulous cars there. They treated me great and didn't charge me a dime over the sale price of the car. Dan and Dave at the place are great people to deal with and are about as pleasant as anyone gets.

The best thing about the car I bought is that I talked to the previous owner about the car. He told me the car was solid in all respects and had never had any issues during the 4 years he owned it. Since he no longer owned it, he has no reason to lie. I am so grateful to have this car now. I've dreamed of having a Porsche since I was about 12 years old, never thought I could afford one.
