Anybody got a battery recommendation?
I've been way busy at work lately, so much so that my car hasn't been started and now refuses to
I've had good luck with Die Hard / Interstate over the years, but wondering if Optima or something should also be considered. The battery that's in there is a Bosch, which couldn't possibly still be original, could it?
TIA,

Buy a decent, proper (size and venting) battery and use a battery maintainer when not being driven. This is the key. The battery will last at least 5-7 years. No problem.

Pep boys in my area has the vented Bosch batteries, large 94 series. Walmart has the EverStart Maxx in 49 size, but didn't bring the vent plugs. Approx $110 for either one. I don't plan on using their battery warranty, but they were both 84 month batteries( pro-rated after 3-5 years), IIRC
Add a Porsche battery tender for insurance.

I have gone on business trips and have not started the car for 3+ weeks, and i can come back, car cranks like it was just started a few hours ago. Very light battery, awesome quality. I have tried Optima, and I would say this one is much better !

TIA,
I would urge you to 1) Be sure the battery's physical size makes for a secure fit in the battery box. That is I'm not suggesting a press fit but a fit in which the replacement battery fits as snugly as the OE battery. You do not want a large heavy battery moving about in the box. Wear through the case and bleed battery acid into the car's interior and you'll wish you hadn't.
2) Buy a battery with the recommended capacity. Sure, it will be 12V but also match Porsche's specs regarding CCAs, AH, etc. Might add years ago when I went to replace the OE battery in my Boxster at the parts department counter the parts manager looked up the battery part number and found it had changed. The change arose from Porsche changing the battery spec for the car. The OE battery had been superseded by a larger -- physically longer -- and with more capacity than the OE battery. The larger battery dropped right into the car's battery box, no problem, and the hold down had to be moved out one hole.
3) Be sure if the battery requires a vent line you use the correct one and route it properly. Do not dismiss a battery vent line as a frill. Its presence and proper function is important.
