I've had good luck with Walmart batteries. And there's lots of Walmarts if I were to have a problem while traveling. Here's a picture of a Walmart 94R (made by Johnson) installed in a 996 Turbo.

About the only drive time I get any more is to/from work or to/from where my parents now live or with one or both parents in the car to/from the doctor's office or medical lab.

Do you park your car locked or unlocked? I think parking the car unlocked is even more of a drain because the car never goes into "sleep mode" after 4-5 days.

locked, mostly. in fact i have it set to lock instantly, and i dbl click the alarm remote to ensure it is "asleep". for the reason you cite. i want it to sleep nightly. lol

Did I read your post correctly ? Your interstate battery has only last a few months ? I understand you use your car as a DD but so do I.....
My Optima battery lasted 3 years as a daily driver, and my Odysey battery, which is better, and much lighter, has been perfectly fine as DD, Track and sometimes the car parked not moving because i'm out of town... No need to change battery every few months like you have.
I bought the car in 2005 - OEM Battery- Lasted 1.5 years. DDing the car.
2007, battery replaced with Optima Red, DDing the car, lasted 4 years.
2011, battery replaced with Odyssey battery thus far, it has been the best battery I have used. No issues cranking the car on if I have been away, for weeks and need to start her for the first time. Lightest of the bunch to, it makes it easy to install vs carrying 60lbs and trying not to damage my car. I had a lot of issues with the oem. Worse.Battery.Ever.
You and I live in similar climates as well. I live in Morgan Hill, 50 miles south of you.

I am looking to replace my battery and and looked at the Oddysey 925T like you have and also the Brailed 3121 which is similar size (21lbs) but has better numbers (on paper anyway). Have you tried the Braille? The other battery which looks awesome is the VPR-S40 which at 9lbs outperforms them all but is quite pricey at $2000. However, a +30lb saving for $2K is not really all that bad. I am leaning towards the Braille to try out since its dirt cheap at under $200 and would still provide a +20lb weight savings compared to the 42lb. Deka battery I currently have. I drive my car about 1x per week but mainly track it. I do have a trickle charger if need be...

Here is a picture of my battery. I always keep the car locked, and I have no issues turning it on.
This weights 28ish lbs with my bracket. Over 20lbs loss for about $235 bucks. So that is cost of pounds loss 11.25 per pound... not BAD.

I think the key feature of a new, standard battery is AGM. I got a top of the line AGM battery at the closest auto parts store to my house. The bracket in the car didn't fit the new battery base like the OEM battery, so I had to add a small aluminum strip to ensure that the battery was held firmly in place. The AGM won't leak if the car goes upside down, so I think it has all of the advantages of the OEM unit at a small fraction of the price. With all that said, I do love the tiny Odyssey battery in F1CrazyDriver's car, and that would work great for me. I have noted that the Odyssey is a drycell sealed design, so no problem with spilled acid - ever. I just hope that you didn't think that buying a new battery would be an easy project!
