Default Pagid yellows all around new rotors ... Squeeling!

I am hoping someone can help mew here!

I got new Pagid Yellow all around with new Zimmermman rotors and My rears are Squeeling to a point that big trucks look at me!

I broke them in as per Pagid recommendations and verified how to with the reputable shop that installed them.

The rear are dragging as I drive lightly ( when I drive by a wall I can hear it drag) and sometimes ever so lightly even when I am not touching my brakes I can hear it very lightly squeel.

Any advice in dealing with this?

Thanks

Bobby Ali

Pagid pads will make noise.. I would have recommended a softer Textar/Pagid pads for the rear.. They bed in quicker.. Pagid race pads are not quiet.

1) Gets some heat into the rear pads.. It will take awhile to bed them in.
2) You could have a caliper piston dragging. Have you rebuilt your calipers?
3) Did you examine your rear Ebrake shoes?

+1 on perhaps a caliper or two sticking. was grease applied on the sliders? I would assume so since done by a shop. also +1 on the handbrake shoes, if the cable is sticking they will rub but shouldn't squeal.
the pagid yellows do squeal a lot but should do so only when pressed.

My street setup:

front: 6 pots/gt3 air ducs / Gt3 cup car air dam / Cayenne front rotors solid with Cool carbon as pads.

rear: 4 pots / 997 Turbo rear under tray, which has air ducs for rear brakes / 997 T rear rotor/ pfc 01's .

race setup:

change the front pads to pfc 01's. Love this setup. No squeaks

I would leave the Pagids for the track. No real advantage over stock for the street. Stock brakes are more than capable of kicking the ABS in in street driving. Tire grip is the limiting factor in street situations, not the rotors, pads, calipers, or fluid. These items only make a difference in extreme driving on a track.

Correct on pagids. Stock pads suck when you push the car pass 6/10s on the street. Cool carbon will take 9/10s on the street and 6/10s at the track.

I've got 02 996tt with gt3 6pot and 997tt rotors and pagid pads.. They also squeal...only fix is to rinse the rotors let them rust a bit and then ur good for one or two drives without squeal..my next pads will be oem since I don't track the car.

I spoke to the shop that did the work and said that maybe it might be the rear dampers that mught be causing the dragging.

I have driven on full ceramic pads in my S4, but it NEVER was this piecing loud of a squeal!

There is no amount of running in you can do, you simply have to get rid of them, I've been there after Dan @ Vivid Racing told me they were exactly the same as GT3 OEM, which simply wasn't true

Pagid yellows are track pads and not really meant for street driving. They will squeal like a pig if not fully brought up to operating temps which is difficult to do with regular street driving. After a few hot laps at the track they will be quiet, on the street not so much.

Turn the radio volume up. Works for me. (Yellows/Girodisc)

If you don't track your car you don't need track pads. I always change mine after the season and sometimes put back the stock pads just to get rid of the squealing. If you drive them hard on a track they won't squeal bad for a day or so but if you always break lightly they will resume their shrill.

if you glaze your rotors by using them lightly you will have to remove the residue mechanically to get them to stop squealing after you put back stock pads.

I hope someoe didn't talk you into this...

Good luck,

Tytus

Had these on my street S4 and hated them. CoolCarbon on street are fantastic and great value. Just ran the PFC01 at Laguna last weekend- they were incredible, but also a bit loud for the track so will be swapping pads between outings.

Try this: Rounded "chamfer" on the leading edge of each pad. Worked for me, twice.
