Default Motul V300 Race easter 5w40

Can I use that oil in my 996 turbo S ? I am using mobil1 ow40 at the moment but want something superior.
Heard the easter base oil is really good.
I replace my oil every 5000 miles. Road use mainly with 1 Ring trip a year.

These are the only Motul approved oils by Porsche
MOTUL
MOTUL 8100 X-cess 5W-40 5W-40 WW 19.11.2009
MOTUL 8100 X-clean 5W-40 5W-40 WW 08.03.2010

What makes you think the Motul is superior to M1

I'm using 300V. This is my first interval, so I don't have a UOA yet.

I'll do another interval with it, evaluate the UOA, and go from there.

It's highly recommended by a few mechanics on Rennlist.

And Kevin, it's superior to M1 because of the higher levels of zinc and phosphorous. And because it's a 100% double ester- it does not shear.

Paul, how long are you going to stretch the miles? Race oil vs the high detergent Delvac? That will be interesting. You should see more moly and calcium in the 300V.. less of the other additives..

PaulUNM - M1 0w-40 has a ZDDP level of 1100. With that said, the M1 is made to a longlife standard. I doubt with high level of zinc the Motul is up to the longlife standard. Why becaue ZDDP is an additive just like the other additives motor oils use. If you add more of one you add less of another. So if you use Motul better change it out often.

Here is something I found about high levels of ZDDP:
"A higher level of ZDDP was good for flat-tappet valve-train scuffing and wear,
but it turned out that more was not better. Although break-in scuffing was
reduced by using more phosphorus, longer-term wear increased when
phosphorus rose above 0.14%. And, at about 0.20% phosphorus, the ZDDP
started attacking the grain boundaries in the iron, resulting in camshaft spalling."

Kevin (UMW), I'll do a 3k mile interval, as I did with the Delvac, TDT, and 5w50. UOA will be telling.

It's got a ton of Moly in it.

Kevinmacd, I'm not going to get into another oil debate and I'm not an expert. But people like Kevin from UMW and Steve Weiner ARE experts- and have had these and air cooled motors apart.

Here's a link to a VOA for 300V http://i859.photobucket.com/albums/a...00V5w40VOA.jpg

Based on your Blackstone data M1 0w- 40 has higher content of ZDDP. So I guess there is no debate. Think Kevin in his last post backed up exactly what I said!

I've been using Motul 300V 5W-40 in my Rturbo for years with no issues. I change my oil every 6 months and barely put 2000 miles between intervals. I've felt with this product my car burned a little less oil than using 0W-40 M1 previously.

Motul 300v 20w60 here. Have used it for years. Warm climate applications only. This is a personal preference; just a testimonial about the quality of the oil. It is very slippery. From 12,000 rpm racebikes, it is hard to go back to shelf oil. Film strength is everything. JMHO.

Paul, have you noticed anything with regards to idle pressure? Compared to Delvac? What about IMS rattle? It will be interesting to see what it sheers down to.. I think that the "sheer" and aluminum/copper content are the most interesting factors.

Idle pressure is very similar to what I saw with Delvac. When hot, I'm seeing about 1.3-1.4 bar.

IMS rattle is a bit louder than with Delvac, but still much quieter than Mobil 1.

I used Motul 300V 5-40 for about 3k miles and the IMS noise was reduced a bit from M1 0-40.
I replaced it with M1 TDT 5-40 and the noise was reduced significantly however it comes back after about 2k miles but still is not as loud a using 0-40 or Motul 300V.
The Motul oil smells very different than any other oil I have ever used.
The iddle pressures when the engine is warm is about 1.2-1.4 bar with both Motul and M1 TDT, with M1 0-40 is was around 1bar
I am happy with M1 TDT and my oil filters show no significant metals residues.

Folks, here is a great article explaining Mobil oil transition away from Group 4/5 double esters. The Mobil 1 automotive oil that we have today is a Group 3 called VISOM.

http://www.lubereport.com/e_article000130105.cfm

It is still my belief that Mobil Delvac, TDT, Shell Rotella T6 and Motul 300V have the highest levels of Group 4 and 5 double ester base stocks.

Idle pressure 1.2 to 1.4 Bar. Never saw mine that low, Use M1 5W-50 and it never goes below 2.1 - 2.3bar. I live in the SE, and do not see anything less than stated on those 90+ degree days.
I used to see 1.2 to 1.4 on my Carrera M96 based engine , but not the TT
