Default Headlight Switch Plug Wiring - Please Help

Hey Guys,

I just purchased a 2001 996TT.

I was attempting to replace my headlight switch, as the headlights were intermittent. The dealership actually paid for the part, but not for the installation.

When I was disconnected the plug from the old switch, the plug came apart. Now I have about 20 wires and have no idea which pin each of the go to. Does anyone have a color code to pin diagram? Any help at all would be appreciated.

Thanks,

Michael

Thanks for posting this. However, the colors don't match mine identically. I've tried and tried to get this right, but haven't been able to get it there yet.

Here's what's happening now:

1) When my switch is in the "running light" position, the headlights turn on.
2) When the switch is in the headlight position, only the parking lights come on.
3) The fog lamps don't seem to work at all.
4) Parking lights don't work.

Also, do you have a paper version that you could clarify some of the writing on this page?

Thanks,
Michael

I'm also facing some weird headlight woes. Just a few days ago, tried to turn on the xenons, they flickered for a bit, then turned off, since that time, I've been unable to turn on the xenons. Everything other light (parking, fog, rear fog) work as expected.

I found this DIY guide for replacing the headlight switch: http://www.6speedonline.com/forums/9...e-replace.html

And the replacement switch can be bought from suncoast: http://www.suncoastparts.com/product//99661353500.html

I'm wondering if both of my xenon ballasts went bad (perhaps by a weak battery or alternator?) But I don't have any other symptoms of a weak battery/alternator.

Has anyone experienced similar headlight problems?

I just went through this - try just removing *** and using MAF spray. The $7 dollar solution.

I disconnected everything and, in retrospect, I don't think you need to do that to use the spray solution.

My lights have been working fine ever since.

Good luck.
