Default UMW tune

so I got the car out of the shop, having spent two weeks from time of purchase to get the pipes welded plus some other odds and ends. During that time, I got Kevin's data logger, primarily to enable me to send him a baseline file of the car's ECU, and then he could e-mail me the flash, and i could then upload to the car - whichhe did at 11:30pm on Saturday, and I did at 1:30 am on Sunday. Went for a long drive on Sunday, and now I remember why I wanted to get back into a 996TT.
I bought the car with another vendors flash, and there is night and day difference between the old and Kevin's, primarily in smoothness off the line and in acceleration.

you rock dude

Thanks guys!!! I cannot stress enough for those that have "other" brand tunes.. Give me a chance.. I posted a thread with a price reduction to move you over.. I can get those turbochargers spooling quicker to make the car drive and accelerate better and smoother. It not just at WOT...

Disclaimer, I realize that there are great tunes out there. However, if you are having "run" issues and if you feel the car is not running to the top potential > please email me or call me to talk about it. I have told Rennlisters> hey your tune is fine. Don't make any changes after we have talked.

If you have purchased a car 2nd hand that came from a different area. You might be running to much timing for your pump gas. If you don't know, and the car is jerking or surging >> give me a call.

Another prop for Kevin. I don't have a comparison point for other tunes, but I can't imagine one better. The car is smoother at all RPMs, turbo lag is greatly reduced, and it makes a lot more torque in the lower rev ranges.

And in SSST's case, it will hit 1.4 bars... "smile"

Only if you jam the waste gates closed .

Still hitting 1.2 regularly in the mid range of the revs.

Just mailed my stock tune to Kevin on his slave unti. Can't wait to get Kevin's tune this week and load it up.

Has anyone dyno'd their car before / after to compare HP?

Took my turbo out for a drive with my buddy and his 993 turbo.
I'm very pleased with the smoothness off the line with Kevin's tune. I'm perplexed why the stock configuration can't be as smooth. Then when you press down a bit on the gas pedal things get interesting very quickly!
Regardless, went once from about 40-90 in the blink of an eye and was able to do a nice 110mph on a nice open stretch. Otherwise, we played it safe and stayed under 70mph.
Went to He'eia Pier General Store and Deli for breakfast. Hard to beat the view and the food! Then jump back in the turbo for the drive back home.

On a completely stock 996 turbo, what kind of gains can be expected? Would it be in X50 territory? What about a tune on an X50? Even more power?

With my last TT, on the track, I could routinely out do an X50 with a GIAC tune, and the guy was a better driver than me
Less lag with the k16s - always took him out of the corners, and by the time he was catching up, the next corner was upon us

Just installed the UMW tune and took her out for a short ride. +1 to Kevin. Love the new tune. On the uphill ramp onto the freeway, I punched it and got 1.2 bar, on a 92 degree day. Quick and fast power and torque. Thought the front wheels were going to come up. Will try to get her on the dyno for stock and post-tune runs.

Kevin's tune takes a stock TT well above stock X50 territory. of course his tune/waste gate kit on an X50 takes it to a different level.

What is the process of getting Kevin's tune installed on my car, if I live a long way away from him? Is there a download process?
Thanks,
Dave
