I have a 2009 Scion XB that doesn't make those noises. Silver, Manual Transmission, Clear title, but with some dog hair inside. I'll trade you even.

I've always been told- if the noise goes away (mostly) when you rev the motor up over 1k rpms, you're good to go. Between that and no metal in your filter, I wouldn't worry about it.
The GT3s and 997tts make the same noise- and they have a 1 piece IMS

The "one-piece" intermediate shaft is a misnomer - it is one piece in that the larger gear is integral, but the smaller gear with the woodruf key that fails is still inherent in the "one-piece" design. I looked into the "one piece" shaft and it was not the solution I thought it was...
And yes, these cars all make that noise and it's normal, my car made it from the time it was new to 100,000 miles, then it suddenly increased one morning - it's when it suddenly gets really louder that you have a problem. When you reach this point, procrastination will result in major additional engine damage. Had I driven my car much more the internals would have been a mess!

I know the engines are a little noisy, but I listened to mine today and it was really quiet compared to the video you posted. At first I was thinking there was nothing to worry about, not so sure now. Any update? Do you want me to try to post a video of mine?
Here's the video, cold start so it's idling a little high. When it cooled down it was quiet too. Let me know if you want a hot video too.

You guys think that's bad? Check out this video
The guy tore into his engine because he thought something was wrong. Well guess what? Everything looked ok with no real abnormal wear. He put in a better matched shaft with less backlash and it did quiet it down but the sound started coming back a few thousand miles later.
The sound is really nothing to worry about unless it all of a sudden starts getting really loud.

When the tires needed replacing on my old 335 I took it to a football stadium parking lot and made smoke screens. Drove immediately to Discount Tire on baldies with the threads showing through.
Didn't get that chance when I had a tire go bad on the 996tt last year.

Ohio - the oil needs to be at temp to do a comparison. not collant temp. These cars once the oil is warmed up and the engine is at normal idlle show the noise more. Cold engines with the oil cold seem to keep the noise at bay.

The OP recorded his car in a pretty small garage, so of course it is going to amplify the ticking to the point it sounds louder than most of the other cars.
Before I knew what the ticking was, I complained about it to my indy and was a little annoyed to find that as a solution he added Wurth engine oil additive, since oil additives are not recommended by Porsche. http://issuu.com/wurthuk/docs/additives Along with an oil change with Mobil 5W-50, the ticking noise was reduced by about 70%. I expected it to come back with my next oil change, but it hasn't. The car is pretty quiet now, and the ticking is barely discernible unless you get under the car, or raise engine speeds just off-idle. Take of it as you may. Knowing what I know now, would I add a non-recommended oil additive? Probably not.
