Autocrossed today in Stockton with the SVR of PCA. Did ok for a newby, ended up mid pack with 60 cars. My son bested be by .2 seconds, that little bugger.
How old is your son? I learned to AutoX with my Dad and really cherish those times, although he usually beat me back then. Heading to my first PCA AutoX in a couple weeks.
Son is 37 and has had several track cars himself. No slouch behind the wheel. Raised him on motocross, we just got onto sports cars in the last 10 years or so. Motocross teaches a lot about your line and placement.
stuffed a piece of foam sponge hidden btw the b pillar and headliner to eliminate an annoying persistent rattle and added a .5 qt of oil and drove the snot out of it listening for... no more rattle

Could you give some detail and maybe a pic of this. I have a Chinging sound coming from the area you are referencing and would love to fix it.

i'll try yes, but it cant be today. there isn't a lot to be "seen" actually..but i'll try to describe it:
there's two noises i have been living with on/off for years. the first is what i describe as the "cricket" which is/was ( thankfully, it's not doing it any longer! ) the headliner support "wire" that runs the length of the headliner. you can feel it from the rear section of the sunroof. i was able to ( somehow ) snap it into place so it no longer "chirps". was like jiminy friggin cricket..
the more recent and more insidious was the drivers side b pillar "rattle" that sounded like "cellophane"(?) crinkling or even "ticking"! under the headliner at the section that slopes from the "coathook" to roughly an inch behind to where the next section of interior meets the headliner. ( you may need a pic! sorry..lol )
but it was coming from there as i would drive and hold that section firmly ( impeded somewhat by my TEQ bar where it meets the coathook.. ) and the noise would stop with pressure applied ( try this first ) so given i felt i had isolated the location of the noise, ( if not the actual source? ) i just cut up a cheap foam sponge and stuffed it piece by piece jammed in btw the liner and the leather(?) covered ( plastic? ) trim piece, and then drove harshly up to the top of my mountain and back down again attempting to get it to rattle and... lo and behold:
no more cellophane "crackle/rattle". i dont know what ( kind of ) material is up there behind the trim piece? but it sure sounds "cheap". in fact it could well be the same plastic wrap crap that is inside of our doors.. i wouldn't doubt it!
i hope some if this might help? this particular noise only developed this year and this is the first time i resolved to mess with it and i am happy to say it's now fait accompli.
nice exhaust swap BTW! i have the same... love it.
Doing inventory on things that need to get added to the car.... Going to try and pull the car down for a week or so and get it all done sometime after my track day Saturday and before my next one... Still waiting on a couple of little bits to come in before I can start any of it though.
Took out clutch peddle assist spring to hopefully get rid of STUPID ANNOYING ratcheting noise.... no luck. But hey, now I know that's not the noise and I'll keep it out since I like the extra clutch peddle input... I the weight savings of having it out (totally kidding).
