All metal bushings instead of plastic.. Its shorter throw than the OEM 996 shifter, I cant compare it to the OEM SSK since never tried one, but this is a very very solid shifter with not much play/wiggle.. Smooth and clicks into gear like a bolt-action rifle. Not notchy or difficult.

I have cup cables as well, but even with stock cables it feels great when I tested it in a friend's car.

The now discontinued 996Cup shifter had even more metal in it and even a slightly longer throw. All the GT and Cup gearboxes used the short selector lever essentially creating a short shifter at the gearbox. It's a $90 part that can be retrofitted to the TT Gbox..
Exactly. I was going to go for a cup shifter, then around the time I decided that it was marked NLA and prices skyrocketed so I "settled" for this one. When the box comes out to do clutch and LSD, I'm also going to do the GT/Cup levers..

Does the Function First kit duplicate the GT3 cup shifter in terms of the amount of metal parts/bushings?

The 997.2GT3 shifter is excellent. I generally recommend this over anything else out there. I would also highly recommend the 997GT3 shift ****. It's hard to explain but its amazing how much better this shift **** feels. It even seems to change the way shifting feels and I believe it is due to the fact that this shift **** is much lighter than the 996 versions. Makes shift action feel more "direct" at it doesn't have the weighted feel to it. Really hard to explain but it's better.

Yeah, I think it actually has more metal in it than 7.2 GT3 shifter. I cannot compare it to the cup shifter as I have not had one in my hands to inspect.

Will be adding that to my list along with the levers at the transmission then. Thanks for the tip, as always your input is much appreciated

7.2GT3 shifter with the Cup cables is shifting nirvana. Doesn't get much better than that. Excellent choice!

I just started my car today after sitting for 7 months. For science reasons, I started without pulling the fuse just to see how long it takes to see pressure as I haven't done that before. The needle moves a bit but it takes about 2-3 seconds for it to jump up to 5 bar.

So, I thought of this...instead of pulling the fuse, is it possible to turn the engine by starting the car, immediately shutting off as soon as it fires up and then start again? Will that make pressure or am I missing something in the thought process?

On my GT3 shifter install, the 1-2 shift is a little longer than the 3-4 shift. Normal or is that an adjustment issue? Goes into all gears nicely.

Thanks, It's looks like that might be the one I used, Kevin said it might be the reason I get a second gear pop out on my freshly built trans. The part # on mine is 997.424.383.01 I can't remember what color he said I should try Name: photo965.jpg
