Started the process of installing a speedtech 2.5 quiet exhaust. Tonight's progress was removing the old exhaust.
Question for those who gone before what's the process of getting the straps that must be reused removed from the factory exhaust? It looks to me like I have to remove the exhaust heat shields on the muffler itself. Those don't look like too much fun to remove.
Normally we supply straps with the exhaust systems. Some of the first units shipped re-used the OEM straps, but we have been supplying straps with these systems for years now. If you want to use the OEM straps you will have to remove the heat shields. If you want to order straps, you can send me a PM or email and I can have some straps sent to you.
I've never had spacers on a car before. This one came with 1/2" (?) spacers all around. The car feels very planted in the corners.
size sounds odd? most common spacer sizes for stock twists are 7mmx15mm frt/rear or even 15x15. i loved the plant also of 7x15 but ultimately opted to have the wheels sized *properly* so as to eliminate more hardware. preferable to me.
thanks! he seemed to really like it as well ...didn't get geeky on it this time-just wanted a good improvement and protection; Meguiar's Ultimate Compound on Meguiar's Yellow/Polish pad(on my Griot's DA), sealed with Autogylm Extra Gloss.

Yesterday I saw these on display at a picnic.
I wasn't doing car stuff but somehow I always manage to creep something in.
Some larger turbos sound great but I decided to stay with what I have, for now.
Replaced muffler with low mile used stock unit and all exhaust system mounting hardware to include new header bolts, turbo studs, nuts and washers as well as new turbo heat shields. Old stuff was severely corroded and rotted. Apparently whatever they use on the roads during winters in NJ is highly corrosive.
Installed a Speedtech 2.5 Quiet and took the car for a ride. Very nice upgrade and not much louder than then "carbide bit mod" I did to the stock exhaust.
Since I had the back of the car apart I took the opportunity to replace the coils and spark plugs even though the plugs are fairly new and the coils only have 23K miles on them. I also have a set of X50 intercoolers that I picked up cheap that I installed. Fun job, everything is well put together on these cars.
Last but not least I also installed the GT2 rear wheel lining support brackets for some extra room when running the 315's. They do pull the lining in toward the centerline of the car quite a bit.
