High mileage 996 TT?

Thanks for the update, T2.
Just for the record there was an article in Panorama not too many issues back about a high mileage air-cooled 911, I can't recall the MY but mid-80's is about right. The owner had the engine rebuilt several times over those miles.
In the case of your car's engine you could -- as you noted -- you could have just addressed the couple of issues and left the internals alone.
My '03 Turbo has over 118K miles. Had an RMS leak and a water pump leak a while back. Had both replaced. While the transmission was out of the car the tech and I checked the clutch and clutch showed no signs of wear. I mic'd the disc thickness myself and it measured 1.7mm thick, which is the new material dimension thickness. (Worn out is 0.3mm.)
My Boxster (oh, with 278K miles) has been everything I expected it to be. My Turbo is proving to be everything I expected it to be.

stv951 - There is a photo above showing current, well last week anyway, mileage.
Macster - I saw the article - it was a 964. I had to replace my clutch, pressure plate and flywheel for the first time back at 362,000 +/- miles. One of the bearings was starting to go (chatter in reverse) while backing up slowly, the clip that held it in failed, the bearing went flying and put a crack in the pressure plate. The clutch plate still had plenty of meat left on it. We decided to replace it all while we were in there.
As an aside my wife drives out 2004 Cayenne Turbo - it just rolled past 300,000 miles about 2 weeks ago.
T2 - continues to knock on wood!!

T2, your mileage is inspirational! I've had FAR more issues with my 80,000 mile car than you've had with yours, but I am hopeful that most, if not all, of my issues are sorted and I can really start enjoying my time with the car. Thanks for keeping us to date with your mileage and repairs!
