odd cdr-23 problem - stays on PORSCHE start-up screen
Rarely, the cdr-23 has kept the "PORSCHE" start up message on the display for quite a while before the radio finally kicks in. Most of the time it works perfectly. The last 2 times I've driven the car, it has stayed on the start up the whole drive. I've tried turning it off and back on without success.
Best I can tell from the manual, it seems that the radio stays on the "PORSCHE" message until it can verify itself as the original radio with the car computer through some kind of validation protocol, and that it keeps trying until it succeeds. Any ideas what might be wrong? Is there a radio-to-computer communication cable I need to check for corrosion or does this validation occur on the MOST bus?

Probably best to call the guys at Becker and see what they say: http://www.beckerautosound.com/Service.html

I "fixed" the problem by pulling the two radio/sound system fuses (D8 and D9) for about 15 seconds then putting them back in. Seemed a bit easier than disconnecting the battery. Thanks to all. We'll see how long it lasts.
BTW, The Becker guys in NJ replied... To paraphrase: "send the radio in, sounds like a fiber optic problem"

i had that happen once last year on mine. It fixed itself after turning the car off and than back on. Hasn't happened again. It was suggested that its a software glitch but don't know for sure.

jmai, the radio worked great for a month or so. I have been careful to try to turn the radio off a few seconds before shutting the ignition off and not turning it on until the car is running. Not sure it makes any difference, but it was suggested in other posts.
More recently, about 4 times total or so, maybe once every 15-20 starts, it will act up, but the next time around it works fine again, so I haven't pulled any more fuses since September. About half of the times it acts up now I get the old problem (stays on "PORSCHE") but now it occasionally moves on the regular radio display but with no sound; I'm guessing the amp is flaking those times. It's not perfect, but it's a huge improvement from before pulling the fuses. I might try cleaning the non-optic connectors out sometime with Deoxit but it's pretty low on my list these days...

If the amplifier were flaky, I would have expected a 'no audio' condition, not a condition where the headunit stays 'stuck' at the splash screen.

Hi
I'm activating this thread as I'm experiencing the same problem..
my battery died & after installing the new battery, the radio was totally dead. I pulled it out & replaced the "10" fuse on the back with "15" fuse (from the spare fuses on the fuse box) & it started showing "porsche" & continued to cycle back & forth to the same screen. I looked up the problem & found this thread & did pull D8 & D9 fuses out then put them back; however, the radio became again totally dead !!
what went wrong? what's the next step?
Any input or advice is appreciated..
