I feel they will drop because who would buy a 996tt for mid to high 30's when eventually the 997tt will be at that price point. i mean look at the 930. could of had one in the high teens to 20's and now slowly increasing for good clean examples.

every car will bottom out and porsches seem to go to the 20k range and then back up. why buy old when a newer one is teh same price (of course certain models retain better), but a turbo is that and a new version is out every few years.

Not a bad thing just what happens to cars they depreciate find there bottom level

Oh yeah? Interesting observation. So what year did the 993TT hit $20k USD? Don't seem to remember that... or are you suggesting that it will "someday" in the future?

During the depths of the recent recession, after the credit crisis and when a lot of folks were deleveraging and flat-out stopped buying many luxury goods, the 996TT market fell to where some nice examples could be had in the mid-30's. From that low point, they've already been trending higher, and similar cars now sell for roughly $10k more these days. Just my $0.02 as a not-so-casual observer of this market.

After today, I would wait and see if any "good deals" emerge over the next couple of months. There may be some folks scrambling for cash and some good deals to be had in the used market.

well i do think the 996tt will hit the 30's even high 20's.

well asking prices on some are in the high 30's already and some in teh low 30's. again this is asking prices. so figure a while but next few years. I don't know why everyone gets defensive. of course values fall.
the 993tt no because last year of air cooled turbos but even they went down. some models will never get hit as hard as others, but tell me what makes the 996tt so special? and yes a great car just not special like collector etc. So basically your logic is saying newer will always costs more so the 997tt will never push the 996tt down so basically in many years used will sell for teh same price as new turbos? i don't think so and if you look my old 964 sold for over 70k new and what a new base model is 90k now? so after 20 years plus not a huge increase.

go to autotrader and type it in and see how many are under 40k asking price....

I did and only 10 came up and 8 of them had mileage close to 80,000 All those cars were at small independent dealers and God knows what kinda shape those cars are in ?

These are the cars that more than likely multiple owners,scratches/dings,mismatched tires, curbed wheels and minimum service history to begin with.

So are you going to buy one of those at the current prices or wait until the asking prices fall below 20's

ok i saw almost 25 under 40k. yes the one for 29k is salvage some higher miles but there is a one owner 34k miles asking 39k.

So your saying better to get a low mile car then one that is maintained well? You enjoy, but if you look a little harder you will see lots of examples asking low 40's and under. so in my mind and see many people post here they are getting well maintained cars in the mid to high 30's now. sorry to pop your bubble Facts are the facts.

Lets just put it I don't see the values going up anytime soon for these cars.

Please show me these many people's post if you don't mind... I must've missed them. Many are getting clean, no-stories, well-maintained cars in the $34-39k range now?

Sorry to pop your bubble, but facts are facts, and the fact is that 996TTs have already been going up in value for the past couple years. Is that soon enough for you?

Guys frequently scored deals in 2009 that just aren't happening now (similar examples are trading hands about $10,000 higher, two years later). Will they continue to go up? No way to know, and don't particularly care - don't plan on selling the one I picked up anytime soon.

Do you know the condition/mileage/owners/service history/type of tires and the part of the country those car came from, probably not 'coz all you see is the selling price

You do realize,you still have to pay the auction fees,insurances,reconditioning and transporting the car etc etc.

Point is,there are just too many variables when it comes to pricing a car..

Having said all that, you Sir, are still a winner :

yes true but there is cars that are in very good condition selling in the 30's now.

How "good" they actually are remains to be seen I guess. The car I was referencing above is a classic example. It looks great in the post until you find out about the accident damage which is not provided by the seller.

I guess I paid the correct amount on my car 18 months ago as it has been flawless ever since. Only maintenance and mods have been my costs. Zero repairs.
