996 Turbo DIY thread repository
Figured it would be easier to have 1 thread as a repository for all the DIY threads we do so it would be easier for members to find.
Please post up your new DIY thread and then PM me the link to that thread and I will continue to update this first post with a running list of DIY's.
Or, if you do not start your own DIY thread but found a DIY thread very helpful, PM me that as well.
Make sure the DIY thread link you PM me is:
Very clear to understand
Full of pictures that illustrate what is being explained
The DIY is actually in post #1 and the clear intent is a DIY thread rather than a plea for help with a bunch of postings trying to offer help to the OP
List of DIY Threads:
Oil Change
Hardwire a V1
Garage Door Opener Hack using a Targa shade switch
Dension Gateway 500
SAMCO Hoses
Front Wheel Bearing Replacement
SS Brake Lines
Adding Grill Screens to Front Bumper
997SSK
Engine Drive Belt Great one by Loren over at Renntech!
Spark Plugs
2nd Gear Popout Detent Install
Alternator Replacement post #17 of the thread adds more
Coolant Reservoir
Clutch Accumulator
5Bar Fuel Pressure Regulator
UMW Adjustable Wastegate Kit DIY

Great idea! We started that on 6speed and it is great. It is also used for other important info like alternate part numbers and part sources. Like this: http://www.6speedonline.com/forums/9...-post-one.html

Actually, not a fan of 6speed at all and would prefer if this was a RENNLIST DIY thread. Many of those 6speed threads are nothing more than product promotion and threads that others might enjoy. WIth that said, many of us here also post our DIY's on Renntech and Renntrack so I will post those up as well.

BTW That thread is specifically intended for knowledge purposes only. In fact it even says that in the page.I have my issues with 6speed and vendors too, but I am trying to help make it better with things like that thread.

Well that thread is not a vendor thread and I think it provides alot of good DIY info. It provides links to vendor DIY instructions only, but is not supposed to be for advertising and it hasn't been so far. I even linked a really good thread from here on oils. I am not sure what it is about that thread you are avoiding, but I am willing to help if I can. Are you wanting to source only rennlist thread to link here? Let me know because I am always looking for info.

I prefer not to allow this thread to become a debate as to why I (and others) do not care for 6speed. I stopped posting there years ago for good reason. I'll leave it at that.

How to replace weather strip 996 543 475 04
I am new to blogs so bare with me... I am am looking for how to replace the outer weather strip next to the rear side window on my 2005 911tt cabriolet. The part is 996 543 475 04. I have attemped to pry it off but it is pretty hard on there. Do I need to take off the rear interior panel and possibly the window to get to it?
