(One of many reasons I eventually sold the car...)
thanks. Guess I wont be doing that

One man's throaty exhaust is another's drone. From my own experience, the Ruf has no drone.

Would have to agree seeing I did the "drill out" mod to my stock unit before going aftermarket and didn't have any issue whatsoever. If anything, I needed more sound and moved on to aftermarket.

To me a drone is different than resonance. There are certain drones from certain cars I don't mind at all... an annoying resonance that vibrates the inside of my ears and makes them itch is another thing altogether.

Drone is very subjective. Back in '02, I returned my Ruf exhaust after one week due to too much drone. Ruf offered to make me a custom quiet version that had no drone and I accepted, but it was only one of two systems like it that I am aware of...

I think Oak got Jacks Ruf that had a unique whistle sound to it at WOT. On video, it sounded like a jet plane when it was on Jacks car.

Give kevin @umw a call. Word on the street is that his setup is wicked.

My Miltek is great! It just sounds like a deeper sounding factory exhaust.

My Switzer has almost none...perhaps a whisper at 2200...but I never lug. My drill mod was also fine, but I put the holes more on the side than strait on....the ones I saw that were straight were noisier for some reason.

Good luck.

Europipes are superb units, just heavy like a stock unit.

My stock exhaust sounds great and does not "drone." Another vote for factory design.

I'd have to agree Dock; stock=woosy

But disagree with drh on Speedtech. I have the new Speedtech 2.5 quiet, a little resonance around 2 - 2400 under load, definitely nothing above 2500.

IMO the stock exhaust on the '05 "S" is louder than a non S car.
