No rebuild on the service schedule. Only should have to if there is an issue.

IIRC, he was at 225K miles and still on the original clutch.

Hmmn, let me see, my 01 has 5556 miles, so at that rate, I'll see 225K miles in....

As raineycd so succinctly put it only if there are issues.

My comment is: God I hope not. My 02 Boxster is overdue *two* rebuilds at 226K miles.

Had planned on driving my 03 Turbo that many miles and more with nothing more than regular oi/filter services along with some other periodic servicing. No engine rebuilds secheduled for it.

And speaking of oil/filter servicing, none of that 15K miles between oil services eitiher. I'm sticking with what worked for my Boxster and changing the oil/filter every 5K miles.

Sincerely,

Macster.

Doesn't really matter, the world is scheduled to end on December 21st, 2012...which is sort of nice, I don't have to buy XMAS presents that year.

D2k,

I would think that a well maintained, normally driven 996 Turbo would not need a rebuild at 100,000 miles. If it's not been maintained and abused then buyer beware. I've religiously maintained mine and driven it all year, winters, summers, track days, sunny days and everything in between and have not had to rebuild the engine. Have it checked out by a proper mechanic before you buy anything.

Good Luck - they really are bullet proof. 243,000 miles worth that I know of.

Should not need a rebuild if it has not been abused.

Get a ppi with compression/leak down test and over-revs read at that mileage, then you'll know.

An engine of this type should last indefinately. The low rev range willl save the rings/cams and the factory boost levels will ensure the internals dont implode. A rebuild is only necessary if something breaks, and generally speaking that doesnt seem to happen often.
