Default Boxster & 911 people ??

Just curious, where is a Boxster placed in the heart of a 911 owner. I did own one for 18 months and loved it (although not as quick as a 911) as it was my first Porsche.
I would appreciate any comments.

Always faster in the slalom tests, but apart from that, it simply doesn't have the 'history' of the 911...the most recognizable car profile in the world.

Reminds me of one of my favorite Jeremy Clarkson quotes:

"What this car does - what every Boxster does - is sit outside your house reminding you that you couldn't quite afford a 911"

Poor Boxster, certainly not as a dear family member as I once thought. OK then what about resemblance to the Spyder and its great weight distribution. Any positives there?

The Bosxter is an awesome roadster. Its better in many ways than a 911. Did you know that a Boxster S's structure is more rigid than a 911 Cab?
Still the 911 is my dream car, specifically the 911 Turbo

Many great memories of time in my Boxster but I wouldn't own it out of warranty due to its M96 heart.

I have never been fond of the Boxster's shape but I'm sure it's a very capable car. Only thing is, once you've tasted the boost, you can never go back. That and the rear hips of the wide body do it for me.

My 02 has been an outstanding car. I've driven it over 223K miles and engine and clutch are still original.

I would not have bought a new 08 Cayman S nor (when CS destroyed shortly after purchase through no fault of my own) an 03 911 Turbo had the Boxster not been as good a car as it has been.

Only got to spend a few short weeks driving Turbo (sigh -- hit a mule deer on road trip and car has been off the road in shop since the 3rd of July) but it did not make me want to give up my Boxster.

I will keep the Boxster and continue to drive it, though of course the Turbo will also get driven when it is back in my hands. Even after I spend more time with Turbo I doubt I'll give up the Boxster. It is a fine car and a pleasure to drive.

Sincerely,

Macster.

I would like to keep my Boxster when I get my next car. (Hoping to swing a 996 TT in 2 years for a "family" car.)

Although I never have "owned" a Boxster (and likely never will), I have driven a couple and they are very capable. Probably faster in fact on a tight course where the TT would not have that massive acceleration and top speed as an advantage. The boxster is kind of like the 914's of years gone by. It's a Porsche but not really.

Side note....Sam, what kind of bike is on top of your car in the avatar? I ride about 500 miles per month and have often thought about a bike rack for the P-car. Never could get past the sticker shock though for an item I would use twice a year.
