Default 996tt coilover options?

So, what's everyone running?

Opinions?

bilstein pss9/10 kit is the #1 contender
BUT
What about H&R?

I've heard some good things about the RSS Club sport kit.

I have the H and R's and love them. They don't seem any better or worse than either the PSS9/10's or factory X73 because I know guys here that have both of those and their cars seem to ride about the same as mine. I know one moe guy that has the JIC's and he loves them but I never have driven his car so I can't compare.

I also should specify, this car is going to be mostly a track-day car. Running 10-12 track days per year.

Thanks for the replies!

Seriously, PM Tom (tkerrmd here on Rennlist). Or just search for his threads... he has turned his car into a track beast and would be able to give you good advice to avoid having to do things twice...

My guess, if you plan to do that much track days, Motons...

Me? Since I will only be doing them when there are close by, I decided to go with the JIC 8/12 suspension instead of the PSS10 suspension... There was also a suggestion to go with GT3 bars...

I have JIC 8/12kg units with H&R front and rear. Bought as a package from Vivid. Pricing was very good and support for my install was very good.

Just one data point. I paid full price and don't get anything from Dan to say this....it was these or PSS10's for me...in retrospect, I am glad I went with these as for DE you can adjust them a bit more ....you can add that later to the PSS10....contact Mikelly for details as he is very knowledgeable and has PSS9's.

And he is fast. Tom has JIC and is fast. Seschang had JRZ's on his racing turbo...he is selling that car, but Dougherty's shop in Philly set his car up and he was very fast for a stock 996TT.

If you're serious about tracking the car, I would recommend the following:

Get rid of all the rubber bushings, including motor and tranny mount rubber. Replace the Toe links with adjustables/Lockplates and install adjustable control arms at a minimum.

Get adjustable Sway bars with aftermarket adjustable Drop links.

Coil overs: Will you have track side support to set the car up for you or do you understand how to set up complex "multi-adjustable" shocks yourself?

If you'll have track side support or do understand all the physics involved, then the JRZ or Motons Club Sports are the way to go. If you do not, I'd either buy PS10s with pillow ball and camber plates from one of the vendors (Get the Eurospec versions with the heavy springs) or go with JIC or KW Varients.

I recently found (I'm in the middle of a staged upgrade on my suspension, due to limited budget) that the motor moves enough under hard acceleratrion (as in the 22 track days I've done so far w/3 more scheduled starting tomorrow) that you can disconnect your turbo hoses. I now tighten my hoses before every weekend event... So it is VERY important to at minimum get solid motor mounts to stop the rocking.

I'd recommend the x73 which includes solid motormounts, it's good in 90% of DE applications.

I don't view the X73 as a "coil" over option. It's a non-adjustable shock and for anything beyond the "intermediate" driving range of HPDEs you'll drive past that shock... That's my opinion, anyway.

It's this:

I have had MotonCS, JRZ, PSS and KWV3. I recommend KwV3 if you want the "best bang for your bucks."
The quality and application is good all around. But remember other supplemental upgrades and alignments mention by Mikelly are just as important....

Default JIC CROSS coilover

I have JICs and love them with H & R sway bars. Right now the coil-overs are set up for street driving. I was given the tool for adjusting them and sent on my way. Luckily friends that do know how to adjust the JICs will be at the track with me. But I'm not sure they would have to be adjusted. The change in daily handling is amazing. It makes the prior stock set-up feel like complete mush. Slightly lowered, it's extremely precise and I enjoy the heck out of that. jaj

IMO, stock sucks. Felt like driving a cadillac.

For the street, I really like the PSS9's.
