Default 996 TT stock seats too narrow, too tight ???

Hi,

I am having more than usual shoulder & back strain/pain which may be related to driving my TT as DD. I do have chronic lower back problem but it seems like it's gotten worse and now I experience more of an upper back muscle tightness since I started driving my TT.

It almost feels like that I am being squeezed from seat's side cushions...which BTW has no lumbar support.

any comment is much appreciated,
thanks,
Sam

Mt Bosxter S had stock seats without adjustable lumbar supports and they gave me lower back pain/tightness. My Turbo has adjustable lumbar supports and they are much better (although not 100% pain free).

Strange, usually people will comment on the Sport seats being a bit uncomfortable, depending on body size/build; not the standard seats.

I was told (by an indy) that I can slip an inflatable bag under the cushion, I think made by Ricaro ???, to create a better lumbar support. If possible, I will do it.

well, I am 6' 200 lbs, decent shoulder width but surely not overly big...so you are saying these are supposed to be more comfortable? I'll post the seat picture just to make sure I am talking about the correct seats. Again my impression is that the seat is too narrow but I could be wrong, it may be the weak lumbar support.

I would like to know the options, specially the ones with a lot more back support...hey we paid 3k for our mattress...worth every penny.

If you are tight in those (I can't understand how as they have no lateral support)...don't do the GT3 seats...

Yes, OEM or aftermarket. Many choices, many prices.

I purchased an inflatable bladder that slips in the lumbar region behind the back seat cushion. It's inflated by a device on a long rubber tube similar to a blood pressure cuff with an air release that you can tuck under your sear or between the seats...not exactly hi-tech, but it works just great for me.

Maybe you can find a stock seat with adjustable lumbar support from someone who has installed GT3 or aftermarket seats.

Thanks, I think I will try that option before changing the seats.

I use the seat heaters all year round regardless of how warm it is for some back therapy while driving - it's certainly not the end all and do all but does help - the best solution is a nice new set of Recaro's!!! I would suggest trying them out somewhere before buying them.
