J, I recommend that you use Genuine Bosch FR6 LDC spark plugs, and the 996TT coil packs are superceeded to the new 997TT coil packs.. Right off hand I do not have the new part number.

You call Suncoast or Sunset and one should be able to purchase them under $300.00 (coil packs)

The plugs can be ordered at NAPA or your local auto parts store.

Hi Kevin,
Thank you for your post & confirming the suitability of the 997 coil packs. Do they offer any performance advantage or are they simply more reliable?

Best,

J

I don't know of anyone confirming that the output is greater. But the reliabilty factory is "alledged" to be better.

Kevin: I was sent a set of spark plugs with the box marked "Porsche Original-Teile", but they're not the Bosche....they show a part number of 999 170 195 90, and the plug itself bears the marking Beru R6 727.

I'm going to change out the plugs since the car is approaching the 30K mark. I've already done all the fluids and filters, so plugs are about the only thing left....are these the correct plugs to use? If I plan at some point to have the car flashed, is there any particular plug that one needs to consider if a performance flash is anticipated?

Chuck, like I wrote above order/purchase a set of Bosch FR6 LDC.. If you ordered them from the dealer they use and install the cheaper Beru plug which does not last as long as the Bosch. For the flash run the Bosch plug.

Just changed my plugs and changed the coil packs just for the hell of it. Nothing wrong with my old coilpacks I just figured why not while I've got everything apart. I picked the coilpacks up from sunset imports (about $250). No performance difference in the new 997 coilpacks. I know of some good used ones 4 sale cheap
