Default Butchered ECU......how to resolve?

Well..........it seems that the previous owner of my TT didn't really 'flash' this ECU but had a coding socket added. As a result this socket is blocking/preventing any further flashing (back to stock or performance re-program).
Suggestions other than purchasing a new box (US$2100) for taking this ECU back to stock most appreciated. Can this 'socket' simply be removed?

Thoughts most appreciated.

Cheers,

J

Have you contacted the previous owner to see if they have the original E-prom? It is usually returned to the customer after the respective company installs their chip. If the first owner has it, it can be soldered back onto the board and then you can install the flash tuning you want. If not, a new E-prom can still be soldered on but the factory software will also need to be installed. If you need assistance with either of those scenarios, feel free to e-mail, or PM me.

OT
Sorry to jump this topic George however I noticed you are representing Revo.
I have your software in my 02 996tt with K24’s and I must say that I am extremely disappointed with the drivability issues. I was not going to post this on a public forum however I feel that there is no other choice but to speak out. Every two weeks for several months I am forced to return to the shop which installed your software to have the same issue addressed. Is there any one other than me using your software with K24’s?
At this point I can’t help but to feel that I am being used bye Revo as a ginnipig to test your software for my 996tt with K24’s
Sorry to put you out there like this but enough is enough and at this point even the shop that supplies your software can not get answers from Revo to fix the problem.
The sad thing is that I paid 4000 dollars for upgraded software and my car ran better and was faster when it had the k16’s and stock exhaust.
Hope you understand why I am upset with this!

Thank you all.....great suggestions. Have learnt much about "flashing" today.
Must take a moment to take stock!
