Default Mod update (II) MPG

Somewhat unexpected pleasant surprise was the gas mileage of my 47,000 mile 02X50 after the muffler/ecu upgrade. On the very same 25 mile trip to work that I have taken hundreds of times, the gas mileage has improved about 2mpg. Obvioulsy, when you get throttle-happy, you can make some of that go away, but a lot of my trip is at a sustained 80 mph, where the fuel consumption has been cosnsitently in the mid 22 mpg range. Now in the mid 24 mpg range. I had been skeptical when Stepehen had predicted that, so I was surprised to find it true. AS

Alexander,

I have also been surprised to see the same gas mileage when upgrading from stock to stage 2 (500HP), then to stage 4 (600HP) and finally to a custom Protomotive 700 HP tune with dual fuel pumps and larger injectors. I thought for sure with the fuel system upgrade the gas mileage would be affected, but it remained exactly the same...

I too am surprised with the MPG my tt gets. It's got the AWE 600HP kit. I drove it from Philly to Denver at 70-80MPH and averaged 25.4MPG. I'm pretty steady 18MPG in stop and go. I think that is damn good for that level of performance.

Same here with my UMW tune, so long as I keep my foot out of it and just use the cruise control... 24-25mpg is the norm!

This is making me rethink my decision not to flash it. I was under the impression that the Stage 3, 4 and higher flashes would punch a hole in the gas tank....guess not. Very surprising and encouraging. Granted, it's geared to the angle of the accelerator during driving....but driven judiciously it looks like technology has had a positive effect on the gas consumption.
