Question on Insurance (Specifically, GEICO)
Hello to all -
Today something interesting popped up while I was reviewing my insurance policy online. I use Geico, and feel I have a "decent" insurance rate (all else considered). But something caught my eye specifically in my contract, and it is the description of my car in the policy:
911CRTBGT2
If you think about the wording, they're probably referring to a "911 Carerra Turbo GT2".
When I first saw that, I came to the quick - and possibly incorrect - conclusion that the description was meant to be all inclusive for 911 "Carerras" (both C2 and C4's), "Turbos", and "GT2's". However, now that I think about it, nobody in their right mind - Geico especially - would charge the same rate for all those 911's, or even put them in the same category.
I'm about to give Geico a call on this - I'm getting the feeling that I've been paying insurance premiums for a GT2 the whole time, when we all know a Turbo (while a great car) is nowhere near that car in terms of performance.
Before I call, does anybody out there use Geico and, if so, is this the same description you get on your insurance policy?
Thanks in advance!

About a week or two ago I filled out a few of the online forms for insurance quotes. On a few of the sites I noticed that the closest description to TT was GT2. Incidentally I ended up going with State Farm, and none of the online underwriters; mainly because of price.

Yes seriously!
Mine is a daily driver in the New York City metropolitan area...so I'm not looking for the same cut rates I had growing up in Michigan! I am willing to look at other insurers however - I'm not married to Geico.

All my GEICO says is 03 Porsche and 01 POrsche. Nothing about Turbo or GT2
I also have $1K deductable and pay $550 a year as non daily driver.

My premium is $485 per year with $1000 deductible and full coverage. I'm 37 and live in southern Wisconsin. I think I have something like a 5,000 mile per year limit which I'll never come close to.

I'm insured through USAA and the description of the carin the policy reads the model year, car model, make and vin#. It has no other reference. I pay approx. $520 every six months, but have a limit on the miles of approx. 6000 miles a year. no tickets or accidents.

In the insurance card... under Model
I even called to make sure they had the right car and description since they are charging me an arm and a leg for insurance...
But I have a 250 deductible... that might be the difference between our policies... I too have a 5K year usage... but I pay something like 1200 a year... ouch... note to self... must change insurance coverage

I am embarrassed to say how much I am paying. California drivers get shafted.
I do know that since my wife has two tickets (drives a twin turbo V12 benz) she is the reason for the huge cost. We have AAA and pay $5000 per year with a $250 deductible (includes premium towing).
