Unhappy BROKE CRANK AT THE RACE TRACK!!!

Broke Crank At The Track!!!

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Well I wasnt going to post this but it may be interesting to some.
At the track at sebring running in the instructors group, car dash lights come on as I am coming out of a corner and wheels lock up.
I get towed back.
car at the shop. all kinds of metals in drain plugs. engine pulled, crank broke, and well you can imagine what the rest of the insides looked like. not one piece salavagable.
Need a new engine.
Car is stock X-50 with an ECU flash? Never modded cause thought car would be more reliable, that's funny.
Well open to anyones thought's on this one!!!

Tom, sorry to hear about your nightmare. You seem to be taking it well. What else can you do, right? Best of luck sorting this out. I'll be staying tuned to see what was the cause.

What was your engine redline set at.. I have a good price on Replacement engines..

I doubt that the crank broke on it's own.. I bet it was oil supply related and rod related..

I'd like to examine the parts for you..

Tom, very sorry to hear...

Let's turn it around into a positive... now you can build an engine to your specs... get some stronger/proven internals, better turbos, etc., and put that puppy back on the road quickly.

Yes as Kevin said, the crank had to have help to break like that. The car is at the dealer I am assuming ? How are they proceeding now ?

did you say "stock" and ECU reflash is the same sentence?

Tough break Tom. Could you guesstimate your total track miles? I wonder how many laps or miles we expect out of stock components before a rebuild. I thought Porsche put our cars through a 24 hour torture test, but it is likely you are past that. Keep us posted on the findings, your conclusions, and your plans. AS

Tom,

I busted the first two motors in my boat, 410hp stock ... 650 hp ... 800 hp. Just trying to look at the bright side, a great opportunity for more horsepower!

Regards, Dave

thanks all. the car had 7-8k track miles....guess time for a rebuild.
only problem is the engine is destroyed. heads, case, everything. case is all cracked up, etc...
so no opportunity a badass rebuild I need to buy an entire engine.
22k and they want an additional 6.7k cause dont want my core!!

There was a 997TT engine advertised someplace(boards) recently, that would be interesting. FWIW, Kevin has the best deals going.
