Default Tyre noise or wheel bearing??

I hear a loud noise as soon as I hit 100Km/h sounds like a wheel bearing but might be the tyres - I'm running P-Zero corsas at the moment, I work away alot and the car can sit for up to a 2 weeks at a time - flatspots??.

If it's a bearing you'll hear a thud, thud, thud sound on a corner at moderate speed (ie off ramp or on ramp). Good Luck. T2

If you even suspect a bearing, please jack up the car immediately, grab the wheel/tire and check for play (and make sure your lugnuts are tight while you're at it)

Just went through a bad bearing - and it was really bad. I got a look at it after it came out and it was badly pitted in several spots. The wheel didn't feel loose until the very end, when the noise was very loud even at low speeds. If it's a wheel bearing then on a turn, when you take the weight off the noisy wheel, the noise will go away.

Typically the sealed bearings that are now used will not develop play in them like the traditional inner and outer bearings. They will make a lot of noise before you can detect any play in the wheel, typically upon turning like was mentioned above..

Default Not so fast

I wouldn't be as quick to point to tires -

I run my '02 TT year round as a daily driver. Since I'm in the Northeast, I mount snow tires on dedicated rims during cold weather.

The 2nd time I changed to snows, it seemed to me that my tires were a lot louder than my summers, as far as I could remember (I have 18" LM-25's). I didn't think much of it until I took a roadtrip to Montreal, where I began to feel (and 'hear') a whoosh-whoosh-whoosh when I turned the wheel, and especially when my front right assembly was compressed and turned.

In addition, the noise became such that it began to drown out the stereo.

I got the car to the dealer soon after, where I discovered I needed the bearings replaced, as well as some new brakes/brake pads, which was unrelated. There had been no play in the wheels before this, and I regularly check to make sure my rims are torqued and my tires are inflated correctly. Once that was done, the noise had essentially vanished.

Winter tires are 'noisy'. Summer tires, far less so. If you're hearing something that noisy - as to raise suspicion - while running summer tires, there's no reason not to take the car to the dealer. My two cents -

Tire noise does not suddenly become apparent at a specific speed.

The old phrase, "The straw that broke the camel's back" persists...
