Default Are these cuts in the rear carpet normal?

Are the square cuts in the rear carpet normal? If not, what could this be from?

I can't remember but I think there are metal hoops. No lower tethers, they strap in with the seat belts as I recall.

If anyone has a photo of a child seat in the back seat, maybe I can convince the missus that we don't need an SUV afterall.

Maybe the rear sections for a GT2 or GT3 dont have the slits.

Not very good shots, but these are all I have access to at the moment. It is a tight fit, but my wife, 2 y/o and myself can fit and it's fine for short drives. You can see the gray child's seat behind the passenger seat.
