Default Drivetrain backlash

Hi guys,

Just about to purchase a 996T.

When test driving I went hard accelerating in 2nd and then abruptly lifted throttle. Car dives and there is some tranny backlash.

Is this normal as in the normal 911 carera's I have test drove this does not happen.

There is no noises and I am putting it down to huge torque?

Thank you.

Perhaps you are noticing the variocam shifting modes. Personally I find it annoying as hell. It seems to jump back and forth between 2900 and 3200 rpm on my car, and seems to have become more pronounced since the RevoTechnik ECU upgrade.

Thread hijack! Do you guys experience a fairly severe lurch when starting off with a stone cold engine? I'm always embarrassed as I drive out of the company parking lot in the afternoon because the stumble causes the front end to bob a little and the exhaust sounds like I fumbled the throttle. I'd say it happens somewhere in the 1500 - 2000 rpm. It only happens once per cold start.

As the Oakster said...normal...you have to get used to the torque and HP...you become a little smoother with it...until you want to unleash the beast!
