First Impressions and Buying Decision
Great Week.
Its been a great week that began on Tuesday for me when I picked up the 03 TT.
I thought Id do a write up for anyone considering a TT.
My options were (budget wise):
03 TT, Speed Yellow
00 Ferrari 360 F1, Silver
Z06, Dark Red
My cars I had sold just before my purchase.
85 Ferrari 308 GTSi QV
1979 911 SC Euro
The Ferrari was actually what I went out searching for, having had one before, I was sure its what I wanted. The car was super fast, but not as refined as the 996 TT (which may be a plus for some). The car was an F1, so the shifting took getting used to. Another thing that steered me away from the 360, is $10,000 services, which I’m no stranger to having an “old” Ferrari. The Ferrari is a great machine, and when the stars align, Id probably buy one in addition to the TT. The last and final nail in the coffin, is all the attention the Ferrari Seems to get. You’re an instant celebrity, which again for some, would be an advantage and is the main reason a lot of people buy Ferrari. I don’t want that attention any more. I’m not knocking the 360, so don’t anyone get offended if you are an F-car person. I too, am an F-car enthusiast. Oh yeah, If you drive your Ferrari at all, be prepared to take a beating on resale value because of mileage.
The Z06 was very fast, but in the end, is a Chevy.. and I just couldn’t do it for $80k. I was impressed the vett has come such a long way from the C4/5.
Enter the TT
It was the last car I looked at.
The car was VERY fast yet well defined compared to the other 2. The other 2 cars are supercars for sure, but they just didn’t grab me, or were not that practical for my needs.
The main reason I choose the TT was how tame and well mannered it can be if you want it to, which is great for Charlotte Traffic and roads, plus TONS of power when you need, want it. I drove the car and was SHOCKED at what a great value it was. HALF the price of a 360, and ALL the power and handling. The services are not as harsh as Ferrari, plus you can get a warranty. So, I Wanted a little flash…I think the Speed Yellow accomplishes this nicely without screaming “Take my picture please!”
The car is well optioned out with Supple leather, Carbon Fiber interior parts, Heated Seats, Yellow seatbelts to match the exterior, Lumbar supports, embossed crest in the headrests among a few other things. The original Sticker (which I have) was $125k. Ever buy a car and you think, maybe I should have upgraded? Well, not here. Its the Perfect Car and I even saved some cash.

Congrats... You pretty much sumned up where I was two months ago, and I haven't looked back...
Only difference was my choices were a New Z06, 2006 Viper Coupe, and one of TWO 911TTs... I only drove the one I bought.

Congratulations!! Enjoy it in good health!!
Using mine all this week and driving it to Miami next week for business meetings... too much fun.
Got to be honest... a 360... that is one beautiful car. Love the lines... and the interior blows me away... only the Italians can do interiors so beautiful...

Congrats on the new car! I too like the Ferrari, but it seems like that almost any maintenance requires the engine to be removed to get at something. I also think the there is a bigger aftermarket supply which leads to cheaper quality part (sometimes).
Anyway welcome to the group...
