Turbo crash
Does anyone have any info on this car:
<img src="http://www.wreckedexotics.com/911/911_112202_003.jpg" alt=" - " />
<img src="http://www.wreckedexotics.com/911/911_112202_002.jpg" alt=" - " />
<img src="http://www.wreckedexotics.com/911/911_112202_001.jpg" alt=" - " />
The image filenames suggest a date of 22 November 2002. I'd guess it is the USA somewhere. Anyone know more???

Some things I got from the pic:
1. Looks like this happened during a DE event. There are numbers on the side window and the inspection sticker on the front widshield.
2. There may have been 2 drivers, as there are 2 sets of numbers. Wrecking your buddy's/spouse's ride would really stink.
3. Tan interior with GT3 seats and rollbar. The roll bar worked well, it appears.
4. If this was Nov 22 and these guys are wearing long sleeve T-Shirts, it has to be the south or CA.
5. Dark green tow truck, could it be the VIR colors?

Otherwise...nice job on the rest of your deductions....if it were a better quality pic we might be able to see more.

I guess there must be a roll bar given the shape of the roof but I just cannot see it. I agree with Gregg, I'm surprised at the degree of compression. The wrecker pulls the car back over that side of the roof but I'd guess this was a pretty hard knock.
The thing that gets me about the photos is that i can see no sign at all of Armco or another car. Yes, the left side of the car is damaged but you can see that comes from sliding on the road just before where the car stopped. Looks like it slid on its side some.
But look at the LR wheel rim. I think they're 19" rims. That rim looks badly damaged. Could it have caught on something solid? this could certainly have caused the car to flip. If so, then maybe 19" rims and track use aren't a good combination?
Wonder what happened to the entire front bumper cover?
I'm absolutely with Gregg on one point though .. this completely resolves any lingering doubts I might have had regarding the utility of a roll bar vs. a cage.

I doubt there is any roll bar. I recently was rolled in my 993TT and did so three times. Rear hit first then rolled. Slid 500 feet on its top and then dropped 10 feet from the embankment on its top to smash the front end. I unsnapped my belt, and rolled right on out. The top was near untouched....see for yourself.

Well you certainly did roll it Stephen....
Actually quite impressive. Can it be fixed? I doubt it.
You might be right about the roll bar. When I inspect the back portion of the roof it appears to be quite sturdy. If there is no roll bar then that is quite impressive as all of the rear glass still seems to be solid and in place. I will feel a little better about the car if I know that there is no roll bar there.
Don't think the sun roof helped much though. You can see the way that the roof just bent around it. I would think a solid roof would have given a little more regidity.

p.s. a suggestion Stephen, pull your photo and stick a copyright and/or some sort of label over it else you will find it being used in places that you don't appreciate.

Fixed Wing,
You really must be from Mars to make some of the assumptions you do.
I have seen several older 911's that went belly up and without a roll bar and they looked exactly like this one. How can you tell there is a roll bar in this car? I sure can't.
I have seen cars hit Armco like this and ping-pong back and forth a time or so. There is no way to tell from these pictures how this started. The front nose is probably back at the original impact point or got ripped off as he went off track. Seen this several times as well, especially with cars that have a pronounced front lip, it acts like a shovel and the weak point is the attachment points.
I agree that 19" wheels should be banned, they are truely more dangerous than any other wheel out there. I have heard they can cause people to roll over at a moment's notice. (sarcasm off) Where do you come up with this stuff...

My comments are all speculative. If you go back over my post you'll see that it is full of qualifiers such as "I think", "it looks like", "I guess", "maybe", etc. Those words are there for a reason.
What I'm looking for is a healthy debate. I'm interested in hearing what people who might have something to say can add to the debate. You'll not find me trying to cut down other's comments even when I happen to not agree with them. To me, that's just a matter of basic civility.

If you look at the scrubbed paint on the drivers side I would say that they car has been in the rails on that side only. And the rear drivers side rim seems to be busted as well.
My guess would be thatthe car came in to fast in a lefthand-corner and started understeering/sliding and hit the armco with the front and lost the front bumper and then scrubbed the entire side..
But what would the size of the wheels have to do with it?
When I crashed my 944 (bounced between the rails three times) I broke two rims but the tires still held air..
