The last year they only ran in the ALMS. They won their class in most of the races, that is true. But they were no where near the fastest cars out there. The Audi R8 and the MG made them and any other production car look like they were standing still.

I understand perfectly that there are only a couple guys on this board that are true pros. David Farmer in his Corvette is one. But even he has a day job to pay for his ride. The paying sports car rides are very few and far between.

I think you would be impressed with the hardware that shows up at a PCA race. I know I am.

I race as a hobby not as an avocation. I have done DE's and Club Racing for over five years and never done any damage to my car. It is about staying within yourself. I have been lucky a time or two also, that helps.
It is fun and a great way to hone my driving skills. While I agree that it has its risks DE's and Club Racing (exclusive activities) are much safer places to push the limits of your car than the street is.

My invitation remains.

Sorry Greg, I was referring to LeMans, when they won overall.

The Corvettes finished 11th and 13th overall this past year.

The top TRG Porsche finished 16th.

Here are the results for 2002:

Personally I know of 1 person who submitted a truthful claim for an incident at the track, and the insurance paid for it without any problems. You should not divert the discussion with baseless arguments. You are having enough trouble keeping your races, classes and winners straight.

By the way, good job with the facts Greg, hope to see you at the track again soon, so I can show you my new ride.

MANNY_02C4S: What do you mean by grab *****? Is it that you don't have any ***** to grab? That what is sounds like to me you are the whimp with no ***** to grab.
KONRAD996tt: And yes boy racers do make claims after crashes at a DE. I have seen it with my own eyes at the last pca race here in the dirty. He even asked all the people at the DE to say they didn't see anything. I still stand by my statement of the boy racers crashing cars at DE's it happens all the time.
BTW: That might be the reason my insurance rates are up due to boy racers crashing cars at DE's.

Insurance does not cover incidents that happen during a competition (notice you mentioned pca race) this is very clear. Fraudulent claims are not the product of DE events, but weak personal character. What I take out of this is that driver's education events are not for you, so you should not participate. Willing Participants Only!

Have you considered that maybe your insurance rates are higher becuase of people having accidents during illegal street racing or dragging...sometimes involoving innocent drivers, unwilling participants??? Think about it....

Curious George, may I suggest you change your name to: Clueless George? OR Poser George?

To scared for the track? Perhaps you feel more safe with your baby in the garage?

It's ok, but too bad you won't experience the true potential of a Porsche.

MANNY_02C4S, I'm sorry that you got the impression I was Scottish. I'm not. As for *****, next time one of the boy racer DE kings smacks up their expensive toy, show some big ***** and dont lie to the insurance company so you can shuffle off the cost of your hobby to other folks. I dont think there is an insurance company in the USA that will pay a claim if you tell them you were on a race track testing the limits of your car & your ability.

Konrad, no argument on the DE issue. I agree 100%. As for street racing, some of you may recall a post from a guy who went for a ride with DE king, Rick from Portland. Rick proceeded to show the rider the extent od his DE skills & his 993tt's capabilities. As they came around a turn, Rick had to make a severe adjustment in his line or kill a bicyler. Net result: 1 993tt upside down and smoking, 2 passengers suspended by their seat belts & bleeding, 1 bicycler looking for a place to clean his shorts. Now before you tell me that Rick was out of line and that all the rest of the DEers dont do that, let me give a loud resounding BULL**** to that. But the best is that when the guy posts this, a large group of morons back Rick up. I guess he was just experiencing the "TRUE POTENTIAL" of his Porsche.

It's hard to believe that you cite the danger of track events, yet condone street racing.

I don't think I'm the only guy that street races his porsche. Just look at the video of the guy in the 996 getting abused by the ricer. Maybe he needs to go to a DE then he can't lose a race.

Can anyone tell for sure if this has a roll bar in it or not? I cannot see one in the pictures, but I am not the best at this.

Any idea what it is worth as it sits?
